How's the CLS 6-speed?

Just wondering how the 6-speed owners feel about their purchase? I have TLS but I'm considering trading in for a new CLS 6 speed. But I'm concered about so many people selling their new cars. I've seen quite a few on the lots too. So what's going on with that? Is there something I should know about the car or what?

As Tony the Tiger would say "It's great!!".

One thing you should know is that the CL was discontinued in June so you'll be limited to the stock on dealers lots if you want brand new.

My car is great too...it's about 12000 miles now and really nothing wrong with the transmission. My biggest complaint would be the paint quality though...I think it could be a lot better than it is now. Drives really smooth...wished I had the navi though.

when I first took a test drove

and I floored it merging into traffic...I was like "holy sheet this is an acura???" that smile is stilll on my face

for the money you can't beat it...yes the thought of driving around in a G35 C or 350z does seem appealing, but so does the thought of living in a part of the country where fwd/awd/4wd vehicle isn't a necessity as a primary vehicle. I'm reminded of how sound a decision it was over and over again...as a matter of fact again tonight so says the weatherman

Traded in my '01 CLS for an '03 CLS 6sp... the 6sp is so much nicer to drive, especially with mods.

I am in the exact same boat as cls6sp03.... And I love it. As some one else put it, I am always getting complements on it as well... Even from the Bimmer guys... Lots of good comments on the sound of the exhaust.

I traded in my 02 TLS for an 03 CL 6spd and I love it. It's faster than the auto. The only thing that sucks is traffic, but at least it keeps you awake.

Ditto here. The 03 CLS 6 speed is the best Acura since the 95 Legend Coupes IMO. But then again, I only buy coupes and I prefer shifters. My CLS has 8k miles all shiftin fun!
Not sure what a automatic sedan buyer wants in a car, but good luck finding one, they don't make em no more.

PS - To the other poster - No Navi in Hawaii.

I got mine in May and I love it. They were very plentiful at that time as they were kind of slow sellers. I wanted Silver or Anthracite. I had one dealer tell me he found 11 6-speeds in those colors. I went with the anthracite. I've also gotten a lot of compliments from the Bimmer crowd. FYI I got mine for $27,500 with 2.9% financing. Great car for that price!

Hey I appreciate all of the replies. From you all, the car sounds as good as I think it would. And yes I know this is the only year of production. And unfortunately there aren't any ABP models. But I'm just concerened as to why there are so many used models on the car lots and why there are people here selling their 1 yr old or young cars? I have a perfectly good TLS and I don't want move into something that's going to give me problems in the future.

This car rocks! People are selling because some (most??) 01's an 02's had tranny problems and that timed with the 350z, g35 release has resulted in alot of used CL's. I have had my car since March of 02 and 13k ago and I have not one complaint excep for the fact that is still mostly stock. I hope to change that soon. Good luck.

I have nearly 30K miles on mine and I'm keeping it for 10 years/200K miles. The reason I can say that is because I don't expect the auto tranny (that I don't have) to blow up.

Mine has been ultra-reliable, great on gas, as fast as I want, great looking, sporty and luxurious. What else is there in this price range?

I traded my 2001 Slush-Box CL-S for the 6-Speed just over a year ago and I couldn’t be happier with the decision.
It’s a GREAT car and I wish all the HATERS here would find a new Forum to hang out at.

Yeah, the CLS6 rocks. I agree with what other CLS6 enthusiasts have said so far. It's a fun car to drive, looks great, reliable and you can't beat the price.

Scib, I don't think that Shawn means this thread. It's sounds like a CLS love fest. Rightly so, as the CLS is a great car.

I think he's talking about the "other" torqueaholic type threads that seem to pop up all the time.

JaDia4, The 03's you see on the lots are probably there because their ex-owners switch cars often (or for other reasons - financial, need a mini-van, etc). Some people "need" to have the latest and greatest flavor of the month, and don't care what it costs to have it.

The cars are not on the lot because of any problems w/ the CLS 6spd, but are there because of problems with their ex-owners

I agree - it's the most amazing car I have ever driven. I am selling only because I bought it when I could not find a mint '95 Legend LS 6-spd coupe. From my sig you can see that I finally found one! I have to sell it for two reasons - I have too much money in cars and I don't have enough garage space to keep both coupes and the Impala inside and I refuse to leave one of them out. Right now the Legend coupe is outside but I have to sell the CLS by winter and get the Legend inside.

I think others are selling because they want the new Nissan/Infiniti products and also possible because the production was ended. I would not worry at all about problems in a CLS 6-spd.

I love my car too, just got it a little over two weeks ago. I was coming from an Integra LS. Love the freaking car even if it is almost 2 feet longer.
Woohoo this was my first post on this forum

Man I would give up my left testicle and the privilege of a decent burial for a manual '95 ledgend coupe. I love that car.

I can kind of understand that considering the G35 sedan is less expensive that a CLS 6 speed. And for about $3-4K more you can get a true sports car in the 350Z. But I want a CLS 6-speed because I want to stay in Acura, I love my TLS but I want to do more mods, and its the only year they're making that CL. Only 2700 produced?!?! I could have a very unique ride.

Like I said earlier... I traded in my '01 cls for an '03 cls 6sp. I couldn't be happier like many others. It's the best damn car I have ever driven or ridden in (BMWs, Porsches, MBs, Ferraris, NSXs) - in terms of the best bang for the $$$ when considering performance/quality/luxury. And yes the '95 Legend LS 6-spd coupe is a very fine car, but IMO the CLS 6sp quality is just as good with a better ride quality. Granted, the Legend had a few extra options that aren't available in the CLS 6p, but the CLS kicks the Legend's ass in performance.

I'm glad this topic came up. I really thinking about upgrade my 2001 cltype S.

On another note
"cls6sp03"
But if I had a choice between the Legend coupe & a cltype 6speed new. There's no fucking way I will choose cl over a Legend.

I got mine b/c I couldn't get my hands on a 6 speed Legend Type II Coupe. I'm happy with the decision though, got a great deal on it and it's fun to drive. I wish there were more affordable mods for us is all.

Where? is this poster seeing lots of used 03 6 speeds on the lots. Tell me where. I want another color! I've only seen one used 6 speed locally and I bought it but it was white.
Sure, there are tons of the 01-02 automatics on the lots, maybe that is what he meant, big difference.

I looked for a used Legend Coupe 6 speed for a long time and ended up getting a 95 automatic. Kept it 3 years and traded in for the CLS. THe Legend looks 10x better but the CLS offers a lot more IMO.

Legend Coupe 6 speed verses '03 CLS 6sp.

Legend Coupe 6 speed looks nice but very similar to an Accord. I personally like the '03 CLS 6sp looks better. But all this comes down to personal taste. I had an opportunity to get an Legend Coupe 6 speed, but opted to buy the original '01 CLS with only one regret... it wasn't a 6sp. But now, obviously that's no longer a problem.

I took the plunge and traded my01CL-S for a 03 6spd CL-S back in March. Its a whole different world and I love it to death. I would kill for my car, specially if someone messes with. I would do it.
