How are you supposed to . . ...

clean the glass behind the high center mounted stop light? I've had my 01 CLS for 2.2 years now and never cleaned behind the HCMSL. Since I've cleaned all around it it's starting to look pretty nasty. Especially due to all the window fogging here in Florida. Do I have to take the back decking out to get to that glass? Anyone ever clean the glass behind there? Thanks!

to actually get the entire area, you have to take out the entire backseat, take out the seat back, take out the rear parcel shelf (which requires taking down the plastic trim on the pillars) and then go in the trunk and loosen the nuts that hold the rear brake light in place, then you can clean it, then you have to put all that shit back in....youre looking at at least 1-2 hours to do completely do it and put it all back together. have fun!!!

I admit I haven't been back there yet, but why can't you just loosen the housing and move it using the nuts you mentioned?

because the rear parcel shelf COVERS the rear high mount brake light making it inaccessable unless you take out the rear parcel shelf, there is no room for any type of movement unless you take out the rear parcel shelf

good question, and the answer is..ABSOLUTELY, ive seen some pics of someone here who took it out and just pushed down the part of the rear parcel shelf that covered the light and made it flat across the back of the window..of course this is illegal if you dont have a spoiler, but it looks cool, if i had a spoiler, id probably go ahead and do it...it would allow for better visibility as well, i wish i could remember whose car that was that i saw with that light out of there
