How to torque UR crank pulley

Installed my pulleys a few days ago and I torqued the crank pulley to approximatly 130 ft lbs but instrctions say 181. My torque wrench wont go that hi and i cant get leverage that good on it anyways. So far i cant find a shop that will torque it for me cuz they dont want to take the risk. How important is it that its exactly 181 ft lbs? Also, whats the best way to keep the pulley from spinning while torquing it? I put the car in 5th and had someone hold the brake

torquing is very important. else the bolt can come loose and shit starts to hit the fan (literately and figuratively speaking)!

there's a real good tool snap on makes for holding a flywheel/flexplate and then you can tq that bolt.

then i think honda makes a tool for this don't they (also they have knock off cheaper versions of it too, atleast i know for other honda's,its like that)

remember when u are torquing its progressive, so you can get it too 140, then 150 and so on. usually, thats what i do when torquing over 100, i do 100, then step it up to 125, then 150, then 175.

There is no spot on the UR crank pulley for the honda tool. Thats why im asking if putting the car in 5th and having someone hold the brake was the only way to keep the pulley from spinning while torqing. and that tool that someone made how is that supposed to work?

Nevermind its done. Only way to really do it is have someone in the car holding the brake with it in 5th gear. I went out and borrowed a electronic torque wrench that goes to 250 ft lbs and had my buddy pressing the brake while i torqued it down. Turns out i was able to get it pretty right on the 181 ft lbs needed with the breaker bar i used first. but now i know its right on and i dont have to worry about the bolt backing out

wow, never heard of the electronic torque wrenches before.. it looks pretty cool too, except for the length of the units.

ps. for anyone else that has trouble, this is what i did (and i had no helper either): block of wood to apply brakes using power driver seat, then i had the car in 6th (i found the crank didn't rotate as much, YMMV), and then just pushed as hard as i could. i think 180lb/ft is the most i've ever had to do, and it wasn't in the easiest location either.

Yeah this particular one is a craftsman. Its very nice, but very expensive, something like 260.00. So basically i had to buy it to use it once, now i gotta return it, because i dont have 260 bux for a nice torque wrench right now.
