Angry how stupid am i???

so i leave my car on outside a roundtable pizza place... run in to go get my pizza (you can see where this is going)... come outside, and my f'ing car is gone!

long story short... these two punks got in a high speep pursuit with the california highway patrol... got away on the freeway (go cl-s go!)... took a u shaped exit too fast, and all of you know our cars dont like that... fishtailed at about 85mph... jumped the gaurd curb... and spun out into some trees. $h!t!!!

they had the car for a total of 25 mins, they traveled about 40 miles, and did $7500 worth of damage. I think they should get a metal or something, that takes some work!

both the little bastards were underage, and are spending six months in a boys ranch???

and did i mention... this was their second offense!?!

just thought i'd share.

heheh classic..that sucks ur car was jacked but i NEVER leave my car running unattended, ur just begging to be jacked. my friend had an early 90s 3 series with a body kit, rims, and all sorts of work done to it. he left it running when he went into the store to get a soda, gone for 45 seconds..when he came back it was gone..found a week later in a field COMPLETELY stripped..like nothing but the frame and body parts.

yeah, pretty much owned! this happened in Pleasant Hill, CA

The insurance co took care of most of it. It cost me 2000 out of pocket... 1000 for the deducatable, 500 for additional suspention work not covered by the insurance company (they only did damage to the driver side suspenition, so i was getting completely new, better than stock suspention parts on the driver side and the passenger side had stock parts with 70k miles on them. not exactly even.) and 500 for mics dent and scratch repair that was pre existing.

im sueing their parents for 9000 to cover everything, and pay back my insurance company. im also nailing them for the costs of being without my car for a month (payment and insurance)

oh, as for my social security number... here it is, have a blast, my credit sucks, so good luck

I love high speed chases also, and this would be one i'd never forget. I never leave my CL anywhere shady, let alone w/ the ignition running. Very stupid on your part...

ON a side note, its cool to know that we can never get locked out of our cars. ON most luxury cars, when the keys are in the ignition and the car is on, when you close the door, all of the doors lock! But on our Acuras, this doesn't happen, you can, oh say for example, go and get a pizza w/ the car running, and when you come back you can just open the door...that is if two punk teens didn't do that first!!! lolololol

That sucks. But at the same time, kinda funny. I never leave my car running any place. It's just asking for trouble. But then again, I live in Jersey City.

And suspenSion is not spelt with a T.

I'm very surprised your insurance company would fork out any coin, as it was clearly your fault for leaving the keys in the ignition.

I must admit I have been tempted to leave my ride running while jumping into the dry cleaners, but I always shut her down. Thanks for reinforcing my fear.

That sucks man...I'm not going to bash you for leaving your keys in the ignition though. You know it was your fault, and I appreciate you being honest enough to tell us what happened.

Honestly, I'd be too embarrassed to post about it--but we've can all learn from your mistake!

Good luck getting her fixed!!!

The fact that it was your fault is more likely to influence if your insurance company drops you or increase your premiums.

Although not the brightest thing I've heard and definitely not something that I would personally do, I don't think an insurance company can deny your claim because you left your keys in the car. Although you create one hell of an opportunity for a thief, nobody has a right to get into a running car that they don't own and drive it away.

Having a rating scale for stupidity is an interesting concept though. Could you imagine if Insurance companies had a rating scale for stupidity?

Here's a hypothetical:
One day after backing out of your driveway, you forget to close your garage door before you drive off. Someone walks into your garage and steals your tools. Are you responsible for or did you contribute to the theft? As an insured person, you're under no obligation to keep all your posessions under lock and key. Good common sense says yes but common sense is not a requirement for being insured.
