How should I paint my hood?

Taking my car in to paint my hood and I'm trying to decide between three options:

1) Just paint it so it looks like a normal hood

2) Have the shop spray a lighter coat of abp so that the cf weave still shows through the paint

3) Paint the sides of the hood regular and have a lighter coat in the middle.

I'm leaning more torwards just a normal paint job but I'm thinking #2 would be pretty cool.

if you kinda want to show that it's still CF but want something clean...... something like this wouldn't be bad, especially since ABP is darker and the CF spots wouldn't stick out quite as much:

you might as well have started this thread with a poll if you are to have everyone decide for you.

i like that painting the hood ABP over the CF deal. but it's kinda risky cos you don't know if it'll turn out looking well.

I just took my friend to a body shop and he had a light layer of paint and clearcoat added to his CF hood and it was REALLY GOOD looking. I would do the same.

#2 man. No point having a CF hood if you're going to just cover it completely imo.

i vote for #2, i've always liked the look of carbon fiber, but i really don't like the contrast of the black C/F with a completely different car. that's what i'd go for it i was gettin a carbon hood

don't paint the hood completely, that would be a waste of carbon fiber, in that case just keep the stock hood. I would say do something creative but classy. Painting the sides sometimes looks cartoonish, and your car is clean, so maybe something along the lines as a simple off center stripe of carbofiber showing thru the OEM poainted hood would set it off nicel;y. Post a pic of your car with the hood showing clearly, and maybe another member or I can PS something nice.

I say paint the sides of the hood and leave the CF color along the middle of the hood...

I've seen this done to many cars and it looks very good!!!

I was thinking of doing this if I got a CF hood, but I decided to save my money and use it for more performance parts (headers & exhaust).

leave the color scheme you have w/ black and and blue its looks beautiful...

If you paint the sides of the CF hood blue to match, I'd say paint the outter part of your grille black so it will match better...

See if you can get someone to photoshop it for ya

If you were to do a portion painted I would paint the outer portions of the crease, so that the unpainted carbon fiber parts formed a V right down to the grill. You could then paint the grill a gloss black, have it C/F'd or just leave it. I'm not sure what to do with the Acura symbol though. Get a mesh grill?

Depends on how it's done in my opinion; luckily 2nd gen CL owners generally tend to have the good taste to do it right; i.e not driving around on an undropped 20" chrome rim'd car with carbon fiber hood. In that case; THAT's rice.

I'll agree to disagree. Think the RJ style mesh grill is better than stock poo. It's like the Bentley style 300 grill vs. the 300 stock grill, IMO.

I think you're crazy.

I may be a bit biased though

I say just leave it the way it is man... You've got a c/f hood because you wanted to be different. The weight reduction aspect of it isnt enough to justify covering it in a layer of paint so no one can SEE the weave...

that beautiful weave...

opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one; yours just particularly stinks more than everyone elses. maybe if you stopped sucking farts out of ur ass and learned to use the search button you'd have majority of your questions answered. you bump worthless threads day in and day out that have been discussed to death.

Mesh grills are ugly as fuck. I have to agree with you on this one. Stupid USDM car, Mugen didn't want to make us a grill

can't really blame them. they don't make grills for any USDM car. someone should retro fit a mugen grill tho. that'd be crazy...

i concur, EVERY mesh grill i've seen on this forum has been ugly as fuck.
