How to remove cai filter??

I have seen a bunch of threads on cleaning the filters, but have been doing a search for the best way to take the actual filter off but have not found anything so far. I tried to loosen up the tube after the bypass valve and pull it out but the filter was too big for the opening. then put it up on ramps to try and remove the bottom plastic piece where the filter sits, but can't get the littel plastic screws out. Is there some easy way to take them out?? Is there a better or easier way to get to the filter? thanks.

you have to get to it from the bottom through the lower cover.

the clips come off pretty easily, you just need a small flat head screw driver to pop out the center piece and they should come right out.

Once you get the center piece to pop out, just pry the whole thing out. It shouldn't be difficult at all. This is the only way to get to the filter too.

Yeah, I've been meaning to clean mine, too. So, all you did was remove the clips on the bottom side of the bumper and get unscrew the filter from the tube?

yeah that is it, takes about a whole 2 mins to do. I put mine up on ramps to make it easier to get underneath it.

I was thinking I had to remove the whole bumper like when I initially installed it.

I've had it installed since around July '04. I think its time to get it cleaned...but its so dag on cold outside. I should have done earlier this afternoon.
