How paranoid are you about your ride??

Do you guys:

1. Park your car far and hope no one parks next to you?

2. If some car parks next to you, after you come back to your car, do you inspect both sides to see if there were no dings and dents?

3. Even if there is parking closeby, you refuse to park there and decide to park really far, even if its raining or windy outside? Even when my girl is in the car, she cant stand it, but I at least offer to drop her at the front door

4. When an alarm goes off in the middle of the night, do you jump up and take a look at your car?

oh and to all you F%$kers that park close, slam your doors too wide, well hear is a little something for you.......

Guilty with them all. Im especially bad if I park far away where there is 10 open spots on either side of the car and some idiot that the spot next to mine is perfect....that usually gets the blood boiling pretty good.

I used to. So many dings, dents, scratches and chips anymore that I can't even tell if something is new.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Some of my friends who drive 3,000 dollar cars give me shit about it. I say, ok, go spend 30,000 and tell me if you still fell the same way. I realize it is only a car, and unless it is a show car it will get scratches and highway rocks will hit it, but I will park a bit away from everyone if possible, and I get pissed if someone parks right next to me when it is obvious that I am trying to park away from everyone and there are plenty of spaces available.

Agreed. My friend Molly is especially bad on that. She drives an old Saturn, and when my car was damaged a while ago, she said, "It's just a car. Look at me, I don't care. I don't know why you are so pissed about it."

First of all, I'm into cars. Second of all, I love my car. Third, my car cost 32 grand, about 10 times more than your Saturn. Lastly, I do everything within my powers to avoid getting my car damaged, so when something does happen, I get really pissed off.

Just last week, I was at Meijer's, and I parked all the way down the lot. There were literally about 50 spots open around me. But when I came out, there was this puke green 80's model Civic RIGHT NEXT to my car. I could feel my blood pressure going up. Why, in God's name, would you park right next to me, when there's 50 spots open around it, and when it's painfully obvious that I am trying to park away from other cars!?

That's not even bad. I remember about 4 months after getting my car, brand new, still excited... I went to Expo with my mom because she wanted to take a look at some dishwashers. I parked away from others, but when I came out, that section was filled with more cars. Fine, the parking lot got full and people parked there. It's not like I own the place. BUT, this Buick Roadmaster that parked in front of me, he/she parked right up against my front bumper and pushed it in. I think my mom could see steam coming out of my ears. I backed up my car, inspected for any damages, and upon finding some scuff marks, I started kicking the Roadmaster's front bumper repeatedly. My mom was freaking out, and told me to stop, but I was in a rage and kept kicking it for a good while. I wish the Buick driver would've come out then to witness it. I would've probably kicked him/her, too.

God damn, people just don't have a clue. But I'm happy to say that my tactics have been working so far, since I have no dents or dings on my car.

Wow... I just read over what I typed above, and I'm getting pissed off just from reading it...

Yup, everytime 6spdmanual drive his car we have to walk two blocks to our destination. If I was driving it is at least twice that distance.
my car has absolutely no dings as of this morning, clean and smooth from bumper to bumper. That was after I paid $100 for the ding guy to remove 7 dings.

^^lol

I would do that if I loved my car, I don't though...(98 CL 2.3). I don't hate people who do it either. When I get a new car I'll probably be just like that. Right now though...I leave my car unlocked..windows rolled down, sunroof open...as close to the store as possible...

Yes, yes, yes and #4 has never happened so far. But about five weeks ago, some dumb bitch caved in everything aft of the drivers door while she was making a turn, and I was at a dead stop.

Although there was so much damage it wasn't funny, I was suprised how cool I kept my composure. The bitch had two screw up to the tune of the width of two lanes to hit me.

I got the car back, and I am amazed how well the body shop did. No paint problems, perfect match, looks like nothing ever happened.

But don't jinx yourself. The day before the collision occured, I posted on A-CL how delighted I was to have this car for 11 months without as much as a scratch or a door ding.

I will park amongst everyone else when it is un-avoidable. I figure the less opportunities for people to scuff it up, the better. Some people just don't care, and I take pride in my car looking clean and dent free. I've had plenty of beaters, and if I wanted it to look loke a beater I would have bought one.

With instances like the green Civic, No kidding, huh? Why would you park RIGHT next to me. I have heard people say that they do stuff like that on purpose, they thinks it's funny. Thats the wrong answer, they might get more than they bargained for.

Guilty on all counts!!!

But my bedroom overlooks my car where it's parked close to my front door, off the street. However, since I have to share a driveway where I live, I also take a walk around my car whenever I leave from home to make sure my neighbor hasn't messed up my car.

Face it guys, there's no such a place where it's safe for your car. Not unless you park it in your garage. But then, you might let you bike fall against your car in the garage.

yes, yes, yes, and yes!

I always take the time to park far away from everyone else in the covered parking area of the mall. Usually the only other people who park this far from the mall are other car lovers with expensive/interesting cars: a jaguar, a mercedes 500, a Pontiac GTP, and once in a while an old but immaculate 96ish RWD Impala SS.
