How much is my CL-S 6 speed no nav. worth??

I was made a nice offer to trade for another car and I just wanted to know what you guys think my car is worth....is it better to sell to an outside party or just trade in...by the way Im getting a killer deal....really making me think about it...

here are my mods that I would sell with the car

2003 SSM CL-S 6 speed no navi
mileage = 7K

mods

Brembo 12.4 Gran Turismo Brakes
18" SSR GT1s with 225/45 ZR Potenzas S03
17" SSR Competitions with 235/45 ZR Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Comptech Ice-Box
Comptech Titanium Strut bar
Comptech Springs
Comptech Sways
Koni yellows with Jens extensions
Comptech exhaust
Window tints

I would take out my audio system and leave the Bose in the car

car doesnt have a scratch or a dent not even on the bumpers

Lou.. What's the other car????

BTW.. If you were to sell the car with all of the mods, your best bet is to try privately, as dealers usually don't care much about mods and won't give you anywhere near the value of the car + mods

I would guess:

(MSRP) - ($5000 to $7000 for being used) + (1/2 to 3/4 cost of parts [not labor] of mods).

Adjust as necessary to buyer's market if you really want to sell.

I just did the calculation by my stupid equation and 1/2 - 3/4 of the mod parts cost is about the same as my guestimate of the depretiation of your 7000 miles.

That brings the cost back to around MSRP of $30K, give or take a couple $1000.

And yet another thought -- I'd wait a few more months -- with the CL-S production halted this month, the demand of the six speeder (if any develops) will improve. You may get better money when all the new cars are off the lots...and that's getting pretty close...look how hard dfreder had to look for his Antracite beauty.

Remember, you have 1 of 2700. Use that to your advantage.

After all the blood, sweat and tears you've put into your whip, you're actually even THINKING about trading it??? It better be for a ferrari or something.

Damn that was pretty quick. Your much better off parting with your parts separately.

What new car are you thinking about? (Z, G35c??)

All I can tell you is that I forked over $7,750 (financed at 2.9% over 60 months, but it will be paid for by 11/1, latest) to go from:

An 03 CLS six speeder, no navi, no spoiler, satin silver with 11,712 miles on it, no damage, hell, not even ONE door ding,

To an anthricite 03 CLS six speeder, with navi, with spoiler.

"Little" items (wheel locks, muds, etc.) were swapped one for one. In other words, whatever I had on the silver, I still have on the anthricite, so I didn't lose out on anything.

Now, the extra equipment (navi, spoiler) are worth about $2,700, and the spoiler had to be added, and my wheels had to be swapped from the old car (special coating, see dfreder 370 new ride posted by smitty), so, now we are down to about a $5,000 exchange.

To get the car "cleaned up" (and BOY, DID THEY DO A FABULOUS JOB!), the car had been sitting outside, under a tree since September 2002 until late June 2003, they poured another 9 hours of labor into the car.

Estimating conservatively here, figure another $500, so, $4,500 exchange.

I will be piling on about 1,000 miles each week, for the next 15 weeks commuting to Ohio (don't ask, it's a long story). If I would have kept the silver car until its first birthday, 11/30/03, I figure it would have about 30,000 miles on it, and that would NOT have been good for resale value. And I really wonder; I travel so much, how in the hell did I ever live without a navi? Standard equipment for me from now on.

So, on the deal, do I feel burned? HELL, NO! I have what I want, brand new and improved, and people are fawning over the car. You know you have something unique when the dealer pulls out the digicam to take pictures of the Anthricite/wheel combination.

And considering all of the "horror stories" I have heard of CL resale values, when considering the high mileage the silver car had makes me feel that much better.

The anthricite has 900 miles on it already, and it is a whole seven days old! We'll be at 2000 by 7/11/02 (I do not have to go to Ohio this week, thank God.)

it was on an 01' M3 in mint condition....basically taken care of the same way I take care of my CL. Sorry guys but the more I keep the CL I feel that Im spending more and more money which is not helping the depreciation factor. I was about to spend an additional $1500 on Alpine navigation on top of the $1k on screen and DVD player with the 2 sets of wheels plus all the mods I put on already. If I really just put all my money into one place I will be driving a Porsche or an M3 or cLk 430 which is another car Im negotiating we will see....Lou is looking again

please do not take this thread as knocking on the cL-S 6 speed it is still an excellent car its basically I have an addiction that seems to be getting worse....this way if I get a more expensive car I wouldnt want to mod it any more like a Porsche or an M3.....again this is still up in the air so its still not a done deal...for some reason theyre telling me that Acura is offering $2500 rebates on the CL making the trade in value much worse

sound like the dealer is full of bullshit

M3 is very very sweet. But trust me.. Getting a more expensive or faster car doesn't make the mod bug go away. I thought that by getting the Z I wouldn't need to get mods, but I am starting to feel the same way I felt about the CL. It's an addiction

Good luck and if you get the M3, you definitely have to give me a ride!

Lou - Keep in mind that the '01 ///M3s had engine problems. And while it isn't a wide spread thing, it'd certainly linger in the back of my mind if I was '01 ///M3 shopping.

Tom2 had an '01 that blew on him.

i dont think its wasting money cause I actually use the products...wasting would be if I never drove the car or bought headers and never went into Vtec...now that is wasting money.

truth of the matter is cars change so much that one year your car may be #1 next year you last on the list....jsut look at Infiniti and Nissan

maybe you should try to slow down and enjoy what you have, instead of always worrying about what's newer and better.

well since you asked for car advise, and not financial advise, I'd personally go for a new 330CI-> 41k loaded, instead of paying the equivalent for a used car, with known issues!
