How much does a 2003 CL front bumper cost ?

Got into a minor accident tonight where the right portion of my front bumper got cracked open because I hit a sunfire in front of me that braked abruptly. Thank goodness I was able to brake enough that it was about 15 km/hr when I hit him ( his bumper is cracked slightly ).

... other than the bumper cap, everything seems fine ( HID lights, body, hood etc ) so I consider that a blessing.

Anyhow ... I was just wondering how much a front bumper costs ? ... I have a family mechanic that can take care of the installation, but I'm just wondering how much just the front bumper part is going to be ( US$ or CDN$ ).

Has anybody had to buy one here before ? Do they come painted already when you order it from a dealer or body shop ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated ... thanks.

I assume you could just use a 2002 or 2001 bumper and paint the bottom grille area.

Is there a difference between the 2k1-2k3 front bumpers ? other than the fact that the 2k1 and 2k2 had a space for the fog lights ?

Why does one have to paint the bottom grill area ? ...

I assume you mean the bumper wrap and not the polystyrene underneath it. I replaced the front bumper wrap and fogs for $714 including labor.

Just got a quick quote from dealer and he said $459.00 CDN which seems about right according to your cost ( which I assume is US $ )

Does the bumper already come in the colour that I need ? ( if I order it from a dealer ? )

thanks ...

The bumper wrap is the exterior shell of the bumper that is external to the car right ?

I don't have to worry about fogs since they don't have them in the 2003's.

Yes, the wrap is just on the oustside. However, all the underneath hardware has to be in tack to mount to. No, it does not come painted.

Trust me. You really, really, really do not want to know. And this is not just acura. My dad just paid $105 for a front turn signal marker light on a 95 Cadillac. I weighed it at work before we installed it. It was less than one ounce.

This is EXACTLY the reason (excluding accidents, like yours), that I trade my Acura every year for a new one. Yes, I eat $3,000 or so in depreciation every year, just to have a new car that is in warranty. But not only that, I NEVER pay for brake jobs, replacing tires, or major services. The next guy can pay for that. I trade at, tops, 20,000 miles. I pay for maybe six oil changes, and a tire rotation or two. And I can always tell the dealer that their "wear and tear" arguments are pretty worthless to me. They don't argue.

UPDATE: ( on my actual costs )

Just fyi

Got this from the body shop the acura dealer uses.

front bumper cover: $419 CDN
paint and clear coat: $70 + $25 = 95$ CDN
labour: $46/hour @ 4 hours = $184 CDN

So it's about $500 US which isn't too bad ... It could have been worse. No other damage to the car other than the shell.
