How much do you love your CL?
How much do you love your CL?
I just sold my car (a '99 Acura EL), and I've pretty much decided on buying an '03 CL-S.
I was just wondering if you went back in time, would you still buy your CL knowing everything you now know about the car?

Yes, and I already did it. I had one 03 CL speed for a year and sold it and got another 03 CL 6 speed, different color in and out, Navigation, half the mileage. I thought I might see differences in the cars, but no, both are reliable, consistent quality, and fun to drive, no complaints.

If I could do it over again I wouldn't have got the CL-S automatic. Its a great luxury car and thats what I thought I wanted. After about a week I quickly found the pros and cons of the car. Pros: sweet luxury, navi (optional), good engine, good room. Cons: handles like boat, all season stock tires = bad grip, heavy, bad mpg in city, understeer. I still loved the car, but it just wasn't really fun to drive. More of a straight line cruiser. Well I got in an accident and when it was time to get a new car, I considered another CL-S, but went with a s2000 because I'm young don't need all that luxury and room so I got something thats fun to drive, handles well, and a real sports car. Of course the s2000 has plenty of cons too like a useless sound system because of wind noise.
I love it. I researched, it sounded like the car I wanted, I test drove it and it was great. Now that I've been driving it for a year I like it even better. Its not a sports car, its a very sporty luxury coupe.
I only have 2 real complaints, the tires suck....they chirp way too easily with the 6 speed....and the stock stereo is definately an under-achever. But I'm replacing both this summer.
- its relatively quick
- handles nicely
- looks great
- the 6 speed manual is GREAT
- interior is great
- its reliable (so far...)
- and its pretty good on gas
- and best of all...its a Honda
It may not be the car of my dreams, but I love walking up to my CL-S and taking it for a spin.

Absolutely I'd do it again. I've had my '01 cls for 3 years, and never before have I had a car more than two years without getting new car fever.
You can always discuss pros and cons about any car compared to any other car, but my cls is perfect for me.
This is my "forever" car.

I loved my 2003 CL-S. Mine was raped by some moron that crashed into me :'( I had it for 2 years and 2 months.
As far as if I would get one again... I thought about it, but I'm weary of getting another CL-S since I can't drive stick. My CL-S gave me zero problems - no tranny issues, no rattles, no squeaks. I'm worried that if I get another one, I may get one with a tranny that's not as well built, and I'll have squeaky sunroofs, etc.
Besides, I'd rather go for something different.
Now I'm having to decide if I should spend the insurance money on a used 01/02 Accord and use money I have saved up for a condo, or buy a 330Ci with insurance+savings.
The CL-S is without a doubt the best bang for the buck. Between it, the G35c and the 330Ci, it's the cheapest, and best equipped. The navi is easier to use than the others, interiors are much better than the G35c's, and the sound of that engine when it goes above 5k RPM... it's addictive. I really really miss the CL

I LIKE my car but there's a lot of others out there in the same range I'd drop my car for in an instant. TL for one; G35AWD for another just as an example. But, it's trouble free, rides great, never has problems, how can I bitch right? Well, I've had it 4 years and it's gotten old that's all.

As or right now, as it was a year ago, there isn't a car out there in this price range that i'd want more then the CL.
No question she ain't gonna be with me forever, however i'm in love every time i drive the thing.
i love my rl. i love the looks i get from people wheni drive it. they give me a look like how the fawk is someone that young driving that car???
usually the same look i have for someone who is driving a new bimmer.
they work for it

I love my CL-S as well..before I was known to switch cars every year, but I've kept my CL-S since 01 and I have no complaints. Well I take that back only thing that bugs me is the poor paint job, that's it though.
I love my CL, but I wouldn't have bought it if I could do it all over. I have a 1st gen by the way. The car is great, I've I had no problems whatsoever with it.
But I really should have bought the car I originally wanted, which was an '01 Wolfsburg Jetta. I still wished that I would have bought it.

Got the 01, with only 59,000 Km... and I still love it... as fellow members have said, its a nice luxury sports coupe... yes the tranny issue has caused problems, but in fair honesty i love my car... haven't had any tranny or other problems... Your in toronto right, don't know if you came to the meet... If you like to see my car let me know, don't mind hooking up with ya and showing you the car...
bottom line, glad I made the choice to buy the CL cuz everytime i drive it, I dont think about driving anything else... Love my baby...

it still rocks, drove the g-coupe this weekend and for 24.8 and my car wasn't impressed ,i actually thought mine felt (or sounded)
faster.also some chick was checking it out at the dealership asking what year it was and telling how good it looked so even if it's a little lacking in the style i still like it.

thanks for all the replies. i was in the ClubEL.ca , and it was a nice family (although a lot smaller than this club), but this club is hot. i think i'm going to love my CL-S more than my EL, and i really loved my '99 EL. thanks everyone.
plus, the EL club was only Canadian, and i like the fact that this club has members all over North America.

i love it because im 17 and i cant complain
but its a 1st gen and i think there were some other nice option that should have been concidered
it was between my car (used) and a demo gtp w/ a few hundred miles on it
my 1st gen hasn't been problem-free, so i think i would have prefered the gtp (it had a heads up display, how can you beat that)
