How much do the acura dealers buy the CL-S for??

Me and my dad are having trouble taliking to this god damn sales man @ suburban acura. The car comes to 33,1xx w/ tax title and all that shit out the door. My dad offered 31,000 cash, my dad was gonna write the check and they said if they sell the car for that much they will lose money. They are bullshittin us. I was just wondering how much the dealer gets a cl-s for???

Dealers get Kickbacks as well, so the invoice price is not actually what they pay. It is usually LOWER!!!!!!

What options are on the car???

I got my car for $34K out the door.
Type S
Spoiler
Chrome Rims
Extended Warranty
Tax @ 8.25%
License Fees

I bought it in July of 01 and the 02's weren't out yet, so I got stuck paying a little over invoice. I was very happy with the deal. Others here have paid MORE, others have paid LESS!!!

Post what year and the options and let's see if we can help ya!!!

Are you saying they passed on 31k cash? With the sales slump the CL is having they must be stupid!

What year model? Navi? Extra's (spoiler...)?

$33K with tax, title, may not be a horrible price for a Navi equipped 2003. I think the invoice is a few hundred over $31K.

You can look up the 'invoice' at www.carsdirect.com or www.edmunds.com. Both sites will tell you what a reasonable offer is also. Once you know the exact invoice you can work up from that for the deal. Remember they get to keep the dealer hold-back even if they sell at invoice. You cannot (shouldn't have to) negotiate the destination fee.

Sometimes people get a better deal if they finance (ie: don't pay cash). If this is the case and your father still wants to pay cash, he can pay off the loan the next day. I've never seen a car loan with a prepayment penalty.

Read this site before you buy a car: www.carbuyingtips.com. It's a long site but if you understand it you shouldn't get taken.

Have Fun. Enjoy the Car Buying Experience. Remember, you're (or your dad) is the one in power. If the deal is bad then stand up and say, "thank you for your time" and walk away.

Just tell your dad to take his cash to a competing dealership, and make sure that salesguy knows it too. Then, when you get the car, drive back to the old dealership and show the guy the sale that he missed out on.

I was offered $27k for a new left over CLS, or a little below $27k for a demo CLS with Navi. Gave up on both offers and took a new CLP for same price.... :P

i paid slightly more than you, type s kid, (29,697 out the door with wheel locks, splashgaurds, and all season mats) but i got a lower finance rate than anyone ive seen here from honda finance (4.9%) so id say i beat your price in the long run...unless you paid for your car in cash or something

that makes no sense...you could have has a CL-S with navi for 27k....but instead you took a CL-P for the same price?? what??? that sounds pretty dumb....seeing as how the CL-P is about 2,000 cheaper than the CL-S...

Try http://www.carcost.com & for a minimal fee you can get the exact dealer invoice to throw in the salesman's face when he's telling you he's losing money. Hope this helps.

As I said before the CLS with navi was a demo, 01' with a few thousand miles. the other new left over 01' CLS was brand new. I got an 02' CLP for same price. I dont want the seats with the holes in them(CLS), i also dont like the white gauges and how the rims on 01' CLS will be messed up from car washs. Also the insurance difference between the CLS and CLP was also a reason y I didnt go with the type S. I konw I know im picky. If CLS comes with CLP's seats and CLP's gauges, i would have taken the CLS. but it didnt.

First off, the CL-P's wheels scratch just as easily. I actually did the same thing as you. I chose a 2002 P over a 2001 CL-S leftover. I was in the market for the CL-P and since they didn't have good colors on leftover CL-S, I went for the CL-P

i dont know how you guys were able to select a CL-P knowing you are losing out on the benefits of the CL-S....i mean, i personally love the white gauges, and perforated seats, but that extra power, wheels alone are worth the money in a heart beat

I understand what your saying but lets say if u have to pay $1000 extra a yr on insurance for the S, and you know you dont like the seats or gauges, would u still get it? I didnt get the CL for its power, if i wanted power alone, i would go get a camero or something. I would rather be .5 sec slower then having something i dont want. Its personal preference I guess. And I've never had a problem with rims scratching in car washs as my friend's CLS' rims got scratched at the same car wash.

If you can talk your dad into the Navi, do it!!! I didn't get it, and I regret it!!!!!! I don't know if I would have done the conversion, but there have been a BUNCH of times that I would have used it!!! To find a house, or store, or a near by gas station!!!!! IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

Keep us posted!!!!

F*ck Suburban Acura

I think it is the best dealership in metro-detroit to have ur car serviced at, but the worst to buy from. I bought mine from Ann Arbor Acura, they deal with carpoint and autobuytel. Ask for Alexander Busharets, one of the nicest salesman i have ever met.
Who did you deal with at Suburban?
MY 01 cl-s is giving me problems, so i am currently in talks with acura to put myself in a 03. Before i spoke with acura i talked with the dealership, and even though there sales of cl's are in the gutters they were not willing to budge on the price.

One more thing to remember is that Sub. has a higher overhead due to it being brand new and there advertisment charge on the car is going to be the highest since they advertise like crazy.

Bought my 01 for 28K even plus tax, which is 200 bones under invoice. Find out the invoice of the car and the holdback %. Take out the holdback % from the invoice and you get close to true cost. However, you will never actually know how much they paid for the car as different dealerships get different deals based on how much they sell. The only published true cost you will find is invoice minus the holdback, so work with that.

Remember, the salesperson has nothing to do with the holdback (goes to the dealership), so they will try to throw it back into your face.

The salesguy is a moron if he does not want to take a cash deal. It's true that they wont make money on you from financing, but it's a done deal on the spot and you are in control so dont buy until you find the exact car you want. Remember: CL does not sell very well, so you have the power.

Invoice on the Navi is 1800, deffinetly get it, well worth it. The best Unit on the market. Good luck and let us know how it went.
