Oh, another gas mileage thread

I get about 21-23 mpg... I'm heavy on the gas tho'... Commute to work is a pain since it's alot of stop and go... I wish I could figure out how these guy get 30's... Best I've managed is 26 mpg on a long trip to Maine.

Tankful comparisions are deceptive... Depends on what people consider a tankful... I usually add 12 or so gallons when I tank up (260-275 miles), but sunday it was 14 since I was driving around with the low fuel light on (300 miles).

I've got a logbook in my car where I've recorded every fillup since I bought the car... So I'm sure my numbers are correct. THat reminds me, I need to see what I've gotten for MPG over the past year...

I get about 240 per tank, but that's almost all city driving, and idling in traffic. When I'm on the highway, I get about 440 per tank. Last road trip I did, I got about 32 mpg.

By the way, here's the same thread....

The way I get in the 30's is driving to Canada. I have a 480 mile drive, make 3 stops and shift under 3000rpm, I also set cruise about 72-75, but at times I'll do 80. I also started getting great gas mileage after my 60k service, which is when they cleaned the carbon buildup from the engine. I have been running M1 since about 15k miles and usually go 5-8k between changes.

That's close to what I did the one time to VA when I changed my air filter. I think the CL is definately built for the highways. I just wish I was on them more.

Doing a search for - mileage - in thread titles, in 2G CL only will turn up alot of threads:

Until he post a thread like this:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23721

Alot of members aren't going to believe it...

Some TSX members struggle to get in the 30's, and that's w/ a 4 cly. engine...

Sauceman has a personal best of 42.8 w/ his TSX...

You guys dont realize where he's driving. He's prob got the cruise set to 65 for that whole tank, so the cars hardly working at all.

I will never get that mileage cause I actually drive my car, but I think its possible. Very few people get on the highway set the cruise and forget about it, with very little shifting or intown driving, which is why this mileage is not more common.

Oh yeah.......Please NO more mileage threads

I may have to start checking out some things on there. The TSX may be replacing my CL in a couple months if I can't swing the extra cash for a TL.

My gas mileage has been horrible lately, not sure if I should attribute to a lead foot or what.

I just filled up and calculated 18.3 MPG. Furthermore, this weekend I pulled a P0133 code with OBD-II tool. I am speculating my driver's side o2 sensor is going and possibly causing issues with my MPG.

Some one on this board once said try to keep it slow for two or three fill ups. The ECU will remap itself for a less aggressive fuel air mixture thereby improving gas mileage.
I have been doing it myself as well as vpower (dont know if it makes a difference) and i just switched to mobil 1. I have def improved my gas mileage. I was at like 18-19 mpg.

Now I get 21-24 mpg, combined highway and city.

I got 300 miles on my first tank of fuel. And that was with me really "getting on it" a lot. Many high speed highway pulls too...I was pretty surprised.

Last night i filled up with 274miles on the tank and the gas light wasnt even on yet. I guess that isnt bad, i forgot to calculate my gas mileage. I really dont rev the engine past 3.5K when I shift. (6 speed)

:killer: Back in my day, we'd put a bottle of Simpson and Sons in the tank. By gibbers that would put a lively step in our CLS's.

Seriously this cleaning of the carbon...

By what means?

Something that the dealer said...who knows, probably a waste of money, but it seems to be good. I will see at the next service this fall if they want to do the same thing, I'll be at 120k most likely.

These engine decarbonization things really help improve mileage and restores some lost power. Although I sell them, I've done several of them for people and they always have a smile after their first drive.
