how many miles have you driven on a torn CV boot?

I know a girl who's CVs have been clicking for over a year....anyhow, my boot is torn and a little grease leaks out. Nothing too bad. I have to drive about 200 miles round trip to a car show tomorrow, do you think I'll damage anything? Please, only people with actual knowledge reply .

Well...if you change it now you may only get away with just changing the boot (~$20) & repacking with grease. But I bet if you drive those 200 miles, you will damage it beyond repair, and have to purchase the entire halfshaft (~$200). Also, you risk throwing up a lot of grease in and around your wheel well because of the leak. Not good for a show car

I'd think the worse possible thing that could happen, is locking up the joint and having your wheel stop spinning while you're driving down the road

You will probably be fine for the 200 miles (as far as damaging anything else). But if I were you and had time before the trip, take the wheel off the car, and pack some more grease inside the boot. Can buy it from any auto parts store, and probably even Home Depot.
