How long does the battery need to disconnected for the car's CPU to reset???

How long does it usually take? I have been trying to override the security code on my stereo, and I was told that I had reset the car's CPU by disconnecting the battery. I left it off for 20 mins, the code still didn't work...what do I do?

Peace

I know that on Fords you can speed up the draining by stepping on the brakes for 15 seconds. This drains any stored juice in the system. I don't know if ours are the same but there has to be a quicker method. I can't believe that busy Acura techs are waiting 1/2 hour for this.
