My 01 Accord EX coupe 5MT needed rear pads at 17k. Maybe that was a fluke. The CL should have very infrequent replacement of its rear pads since the fronts do about 70% of the work.

Rears should last forever... (75-125K miles or more)

I had my rears pads replaced @22.5 K miles because the dealership screwed up when they adjusted the parking brake (on my 6spd) during the 15K mile service. They must have just thighened the adjustment setting, but forgot to check to see if the rear brakes where dragging. Premature wear do to improper service.

I've bought a helms manual... and there's a new Acura dealer closer to home that I'm going to check out...

On every car I've had they always lasted in between 50 and 60k miles.

you're likely down to metal on metal. could you see if there was any meat left on the pads?

with only 40k miles, i would bet you have a sticky caliper and that one side is wasted.

I had that happen once. There was was a stone jammed between the caliper & the wheel.

Mine was 57k on the rears when I sold her. So they surely last a while. Now the fronts, heh

My 01 is at 39K and when I got my oil changed the guy at the dealership said I need to get them replaced. I dont understand how it is possible for rear pads to go that bad in 5 months unless when I bought the car they didnt change them like they are supposed to.
