how to import cars from outside???

how to import cars from outside???

I hope someone can help me. I want to import a car (namely a 2000 Nissan Silvia S15) to the u.s. As of right now they dont sell this incredible car here. I want to know if there is a way to import it from either japan or australia or wherever i can buy one to the the u.s How hard is it to do this??? any companies that will help me out??? how much modifications will i need to make to meet u.s. smog regulations??? any info i will truly appreciate and praise your name forever thanks a million

well the easiest thing would be to find a company . I dont really know one , well , there is a company that imports them and sells them here for 90K . But it will depend on what the laws are in Japan. My dad brought his mercedes here from the middle east and the rulkes there were he had to have owned it for 6 months before he could export it . The rest of the rules were it had to pass smog tests, and had to have a catalitic converter. Once you ship it over here you will have to get a bond out in twice the cars value for a year . and then hire a company to help you clear it through customs. It takes quite a lot of time and can be pretty frustrating. Then you have to go and prove that you own the car and they will check vin numbers and all that and then you pick it up and can drive it for one year here before it has to be registered.
