How hard do you beat on your CL? !
Just a generic question to us all
I don't drive my CL hard usually...but when its night, windows are down and nice big road in front of me i pop vtec all the way to 7k in 1-4 and once i'm in that state of mind i always start to wonder if motor will blow on me and how bad of a beating our motors can take and for how long...
sometimes i worry my motor might go before comptech ships out my supercharger

Dont really beat on it either, rarely go above 3k unless i really need to speed up - however i think everyone is guilty of taking it to redline through the gears at least now and then.

I at least try to hit a buck per week!! I just love to hear that vtec kick over, I mean I dont pay a arm and a leg every month for nothin! You just have to enjoy the things you have and be blessed to have em

I once went pass the redline once, that was scary knowing that i have a glassy transmission.
I was on freeway and i SS down to 3rd gear and i guess it got to 6k and i step on it even more and it went pass the red line and started to go back and forth around 7 to 8k. I was shock. and shifted back up.

I drove her like I stole her for over 120K miles. No problems at all but the 5AT tranny was starting to flutter just before I sold her. Never stranded me. I had an AC hose and the rear view mirror replaced, both while under warranty. That was it. Great service!
I'm looking for an '03 6-speed now for step-son.

I now drive an accord....
As fuzzy said I dont beat mine but I drive it like it was intended to be driven
I hit VTEC at least once a day, but never go above redline. I just love cruising the twisty back roads and rowing through the gears. I do admit that when I first got the CLS I was only 21 and it was my first semi powerful car. I loved to spin the tires in first and chirp 2nd and 3rd. I dont do that at all anymore.

I usually cruise easy in the city and suburbs, but on the highway I put the hammer down pretty often, especially on onramps. Throw a set of twisties in and my baby gets no mercy.

Yeah I love hitting the throttle every now and then, My Type S is completely stock and maybe Im just not used to driving really fast cars, but my car is plenty fast for me. I couldnt imagine modding it, It would scare the crap outta me, or I would become addicted to modding it.
Do you guys with the A/T usual drive in the sport shift mode. Thats usually all I drive in, sometimes I dont like the way it shifts when in high RPM's, do you guys feel the same way?
It hesitates a little, I have my foot down on the gas when it shifts maybe I should take it off.
Anways just to throw in I came out a winner beating a CLK 320 on the I-405 @ 126mph
Good Stuff, the Benz ate it. lol

I drive it like a grandma. Going over 3k only about once or twice a month and vtec maybe every month or 2. And even then, i shift at around 6k, i've never hit redline before. never even floored it, although i kinda wish i did once. I drive all my cars gingerly and i open it up once in a while to just have some fun. besides if your vtec-ing all the time its not fun cause you just do it everyday. now try waiting a month then do it, its a blast! I want my car to last and i want to help as much as possible, plus gas is expensive in cali!

My 03 CL-S 6M gets commuted 85 miles a day (all expressway). I cruise around 80/85 most of the time - and she purrs like a kitten.
I give it a good run through the revs daily though - even though the gas mileage favors going 1st to 3rd to 6th.
That said - stock with cheapo headers I'm getting 30+ mpg on average....

I like beating on my car, it takes it well. If it didn't have v-tec there would be no reason to take it to redline. I hit v-tec in my car almost everyday, thats why it has a rev limiter...lol.. yeah sport mode = suck gas mode! It gets to rest on the days that my GF drives it.....haha

I treat my car like I would a lady.
For most parts, you gotta be gentle and caring.
You gotta spoil her a little bit and splurge at times.
You gotta listen a lot to anticipate problems.
Then .... other times, she just begs, and u can be a bit more ... rough, and naughty.

Enough that after ~2500 miles I go from 4.5 quarts to 2.5-3 quarts of oil left. Don't even burn/leak the stuff I guess the PCV system just sends a lot back through the intake, which is burning it but not because it leaks through the rings, valve guides etc plus no blueish smoke either.
pic:
Thats Royal Purple gents, so it was taking a beating
Just put in 4.5qts of new 5-20 RP and a new PureOne filter
Didn't feel like topping off theblack oil =/

I cant believe you are eating oil like that. I wonder if there is a way to bypass/block the EGR without losing performance? I am going to measure what comes out of my car next oil change. My car doesnt feel fast anymore. I need Mo powa!

eating oil is nothing. vtec burns oil period. more vtec, more oil being ate. 400m i use up that much oil to. no biggie just top off a .5 quart every once in a while.
i also drive it like its meant to. drive nice and safe from cops for the most part and enjoy the luxury, but the other part is pure vtec. whats the point of owning your cl-s if your not enjoying it? aznboi, thats wack. hitting redline is fun every single time for me. at least once a day. not consistently hitting vtec daily will cause your engine to start building carbon. carbon and gunked up engines dont perform as well and dont get as good of gas mileage. vtec is there for a reason.

I was just thinking what it must mean to have that much postive pressure in the crankcase, can I infer thats the pressure of combustion that going past the rings? Or is it that the fact that the rings seal so well that the pressure behind that piston gets built up, trying to think it through.
