- Tires
- Oil change
- Quick inspection at the shop if possible

Check ALL fluids, brake fluid, power steering, engine oil, trans oil, coolant level. Check coolant hoses aswell, check belts for cracking. Check tires for nails or bubbles in the sidewall that could cause a blowout, check spare tire pressure and pressure in regular tires also. Other than that.. have fun and be safe.

That pretty much covers it...

You might want to include a "Emergency Survival Car Kit" if you're going to be on any roads that aren't well traveled... The kit would be bigger if you were traveling in the winter... and if you're wondering why I mention this: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=cnet

My CL is going on a 4K mile road trip in June.

Check your tires well. Off ground, check for any strange wear, nicks, slits, rot, nails, punctures etc.
Check fluids, Coolant, washer, brake, power steering, oil, tranny/clutch.
Make sure AC works
Getting an oil change isn't needed unless your in between what you normally do. In my case it's 5K miles, so I'm good cause my last oil change was less then 1K miles ago.
Tighten lug nuts
Check tire pressure
Check for any loose suspension

That's really it.

I also pack a gallon of water & some extra fluids in a bag. As well as a small tool set, & flashlight.

usually i just check tires/pressure.

highway miles are very low stress for a car.

Some of you guys amaze me... The CL is an excellent road trip car

Comfortable, up to 30 mpg on the open road, luxurious, and has enough power to get out of it's own way...

Of course if you're got it slammed on 20's, with a loud exhaust, that's another story

Yep. This is my 3rd long trip in a CLS. 1 in each of the CL's I had. Auto, 6mt, & my current 6mt.
I usually rent cars & drive those, but my CL needs to stretch.

I burn few CD's and my friends and I are ready to go. Of course I don't go 2000 miles usually.

Where are you going anyways?

I usually pack the night before, and head out when I wake up. I check everything on a regular basis so nothing else changes for me.

<----- Driven from Cali to Texas, Texas to Cali, Texas to Florida and Florida to Texas about 18 times in total. Probably even more...

Anyone ever driven from NY to LA? I've always wanted to take that roudtrip. I've also always wanted to drive along route 66 all across America.

I just took my CL-S on a 2000 mile weekend trip. Worked great. Got over 32 miles per gallon and I had no problem driving for 5 hours straight with no back pain (and I have a bad back) afterwards. I might suggest you get a bra for road trips but other then that, check the fluids, tires, and brakes and you shouldn't have any issues. Also check the wipers, ya never know what kinda weather you might hit.

HA! My 2000 mile trip a couple weekends ago was to Dark Lord Day at Three Floyds Brewery. My trunk was so full of beer I had to put some in the back seat too. All I had other then beer was a backpack of clothes.

Yep did the drive 2 years ago, hit up random route 66 spots along the way (williams AZ?).. along with the Budweiser AND Coors breweries! not in my CL tho, but a company rented minivan...

I've been able to squeeze out 32-33 mpg on long road trips. The car is extremely comfortable...for road trips though, the bigger tires should come off so OEM can get put back on for ride comfort and increase in mpg.

And loud exhaust has never been an issue.
