How do you clean your engine bay??
Mine was so dirty when i was installing the intake, so i use a wet towel to clean it,but it was still kinda dirty coz some areas are hard to reach, is it ok to use the "engine cleaner" from the self-car wash??
btw.the engine cleaner is just some soapy water, and you just spray it to your engine bay area. Is it okay to do that??

Not really... You gotta make sure it's a hot day and you have to let your engin sit in the sun for a little while if you wet it down..... I just towell down my engin everytime I wash my baby... Good luck... FYI you guys are lucky becuase you have engin covers!! Only my Beemer has it and my Legend Coupe had more to clean... So don't complain heheheh Have fun!! --=Keith

You can use "Gunk" degreaser or "Simple Green". Simple Green leaves no after smell, Gunk does. If you use GUNK, your engine bay will smell like a hot rod. Make sure you cover all electrical items with plastic bags (ignition, etc). If you use a high pressure hose, be sure and stay away from items that are electrical. I use Gunk on a really dirt engine and simple green on a semi dirty engine. Gunk is not so good for the environment and simple green is fine.
Gunk works best on a warm engine (not hot) and simple green will work on cold engines best. Use a paint brush to loosen stubborn stuff and rinse off. Dry as best you can and then start the engine (after removing the plastic) and let it air dry.
I do it all the time.

Anything to do with electrical. Fuse box, ignition wires mostly. Also no real pressure around the air filter. If you aren't sure...cover it.

If you are to use Gunk make sure your engine is cold. I used it once..on my sisters car, and it evaporated on the engine..and the smell would not go away.

Another thing you might want to try out is Vinylex, or Armor all for the covers.
