How to debadge?
Sorry if this is an over asked question, but how does one remove the ACURA letters from the trunk? The name plates on my Honda were glued on and a credit card worked great, followed by heavy buffing. Does Acura glue or bolt letters?
The ACURA symbol has holes holding it in so you can really only debadge the A C U R A and the 3.2CL and the Type S.
1) Soften the glue which is exactly like the 3M mounting squares that you get at the office supply store. You can use a hairdryer or pour boiling water down the trunk (this is what I did). Either works fine.
2) Using dental floss (use the mint kind it works a lot better) gently scrap off the letters.
3) Use some mild stuff to take the remaining gunk off. Goof Off, straight Iso alcohol, Goo Gone, and then wash the area to make sure that the Goo Gone is gone.
4) Enjoy - it looks better and is easier to wax etc.

I used to think that when someone debadged a car, it was probably because they had a lower trim-line or something and wanted to hide it.
For instance, I used to think that when I saw a debadged 3-series BMW it was likely that it was the smaller engine and the owner didn't want people to know.
Since coming to this board I recognize that people just like the cleaner look, but that was my impression before I knew better.
Go figure.

Around here I have heard of a few that have been stolen from cars and a bunch stolen off of lots. I think it was a big deal at first, but I havent heard anything in a while. Just a fad I guess.

Besides the cleaner look, I like to be different i gurss, and by taking the billboard off the back end of the car, it becomes a bit of a mystery as to what kind of car I'm driving. The CL body styles are not all that common (everybody knows what a BMW looks like and who cares if it's a 323,325,328, 330,33333 etc.), and in the short week I've owned my car, a few people have already asked me what kind of car it was. Of course, they weren't looking at the 2X4ft. letters that subtly announce ACURA.
I haven't debadged mine because it's a lease. It was always fun to debadge a higher end car and make people think it was a lower level until you spank their proverbial booties.

I think the car looks better with them on, but to each is own.
