Well guys it's winter and I an wondering how to adjust my hood release cable.

Any help would be appreciated

 

No adjustment possible for the hood latch. If something is wrong with yours, you might have to just replace the cable.

 

i would just cut the cable where it goes into the hood latch and then press on a piece of metal that will then secure into the latch again (essentially remaking that metal nub that fits into the latch)...

or u can splice into it and shorten it but that's probably more of a pain in the ass.

but yea i would not buy a new cable if i could just fix it myself.

you never said whats happening by the way.. is it stiff... sloppy whats happening??

if it is stiff u may wanna look at the latch itself and see if it's all gummed up... very common on older cars... i have seen it on many brands

 

it's not letting me open the hood

I had this exact problem about a week ago. I had someone push down on the hood near the latch area and kept trying the lever until the hood finally released. Then I sprayed a bunch of WD-40 onto the latch and worked it by hand a few times. It is working again now.

 

U either don't open the hood enough or u never wash it.... Lol jus kiddin.

 

its probably seized, pb blaster it, had to do that on my mom's MDX.
