Horrific Motorcycle Accident Near My House

Yesterday afternoon, a guy on a sport bike took the flyover ramp (upper deck, far left X in picture) haulin' ass and lost control.

His bike hit the retaining wall and stopped, but he flew over the edge.

He fell onto the next lowest flyover ramp (middle X in picture) where he hit an exit sign and was basically cut in half.

His upper body then fell onto the main highway below (far right X in picture).

That upper ramp is huge. What a crazy way to go.

Thats a crazy looking roadway... I feel bad for the dude..
Yeah cycle accidents are messy... I dread them since I have to put the pieces back together.. and sometimes there is not much to work with..

It's Mopac and 183... he was on the South Mopac to South 183 flyover when he lost it.

He first landed on the North 183 to South Mopac flyover and then ended up in the Northbound lanes of Mopac.

I'm hopin' we can get an Austin meet together in the next month or so! The last meet I knew of was in Jan 02!!

Thats horrible. Those top bridges are very recently built too i think.

I wonder what and if the other drivers saw any of the body parts fall on their car or laying on the road.

I've witnessed a terrible accident on 360 where i was the first one on the scene to find the guy's brains all over the side

Bondo is not just for cars.

I spoke with an old childhood friend of mine thats a cop in my city. Some time ago when they recently installed round-abouts to curb the speeders. A guy on a bike with his chick friend were hot doggin it. So the guy was riding fast through a street that recently put up the round-abouts. Realized that it was too late swerved to avoid it and hit the round-about's curb. The girlfriend on the back only sustaned something like a broken wrist and some scratches/minor road rash. But they needed her to identify the 'head' . There are signs on the round-about to instruct the tourists that there is a round-about ahead and what to do (which direction to go) . Well the sign hit him right underneath his chin and took his head clean off. When the paramedics brought over the head to her, the helmet was still on. The paramedic could only open the visor to present the face for identification to the GF. And on the rider's face was a frozen look of shock. Eyes wide open and mouth gaped.

But what I think is the crazy shit is NO ONE cleans up the blood. The next day the signs of the accident were sprayed everywhere.

Yeah there's been a recent rise of dumb shmucks trying to act cool and then ending up dead while riding. Two on Long Island fairly recently were one guy was speeding and lost control and took a fatal spill.

The other was trying to show off and slammed into the median in the middle of the street and was thrown off and killed. My cousin knew one and a friend knew the other. Its a small world.

I would have to be very, very, VERY confident in my riding abilities before i ever did any "hot dogging" on a street bike.

Makes you think real hard about acting stupid on a bike - not much between you and the ground. Yeah, I ride a sport bike, but I am a big fan of living! Ride Safe.

one of my friends just crashed his bike, he was riding along and some lady just backed out of her driveway and he smashed into her car, flew over and dislocated his shoulder. He's ok just some bruises and the shoulder, but the bike is done....this is why i hate people, look before you back up

I'm in Austin too and I saw it on the news. They also mentioned that a few years ago a guy in his day-old Porsche took this same flyover too fast and flew off to the ground below. The driver died but his passenger survived with serious injuries. The pic of the car was undisguishable.
Happier News - an Austin meet would be great!

street bikes are really dangerous, no matter how great a rider you are. i know someone on long island that just got killed because a bitch in a minivan pulled out in front of him. I rode bikes from 10 yrs old to 23 yrs...dirt bikes are pretty safe as long as you're not stupid, but street bikes...well i had a few close calls; none of which could be considered my fault. All it takes is one asshole to pull out in front of you, or a little oil slick on a turn and bam its all over....
