Horn pad isn't working

has anyone had a problem with the horn pad not working? My alarm still works in panic mode but when I press the horn nothing. Do I need to replace the entire pad which looks like it includes the air bag too? Or is it a bad conector or something.

thx

if it stil works with the panic mode then most like a bad connection at the wheel. pull the air bag out and take look at the connections. it's pretty easy. just two torx bolt on both sides and the bag pulls right out.

There is an Acura tech bulletin out about this. Has to do with a bad connection between the horn button and the steering shaft. Might find it on the web or a dealer should know.

well this happened to me, but i also had my SRS light on which meant my airbag WAS messed up...cost me a little under $1,000 to fix airbag and get new pad and labor blah, blah, blah...

so i would look for that bad connection before a dealer lies to you...unless your SRS light turns on...

did you hit anything at less than 10m.p.h. that you didn't think mattered? this might be it...

Thanks for all the replies. No SRS light thankfully. I didn't hit anything.... but who knows if someone may have bumped into me. I'll try and find the tech bulletin and I'll check the connection out like you all suggest.

just an update. Ended up being my clockspring cable reel. Apparently it's not a question of if it will go bad but when. Only issue now is that after I put everyhting back together now my SRS light won't go out. So now my horn works and radio function of steering wheel works but the damn SRS light won't go off

Take off the negative battery cable and reset the ECU.

there's a yellow connector (w/ two wires) right behind the driver's knee panel.
here's what it looks like, but in our cars its more towards the driver side:

turn ur key off
jump the connector (connect the two sockets w/ a paper clip or something)
turn the key ON
wait for the SRS light to go
w/ in 6 secs, remove the jumper
w/ in 6 secs, the SRS light will come back on
w/ in 6 secs, jump it again,
the SRS light should blink a few times and then go off.
Put everything back together like it was.

If it doesn't go off then u have a problem w/ in ur system.
