hood / trunk removal, do i need the spring tool?

i need to remove my hood and trunk. they both look simple except the trunk with the springs. can i remove one of the springs and still have it function? i just don't want too much pressure on the trunk lid that it will swing open when i push the button.

also on the hood, anyone remove the hood shocks before? any info is helpful. thanks.

i searched, didn't really find much.

If the Acura springs work the same way they do on an Accord you don't need the special tool.

When I changed springs I just caught the hook on the spring in the hole on the handle of a long cresent wrench and slipped them off and back on. Used a length of broom handle to hold the lid up while I did the change.

Yeah you can. The DEALER did it with a screwdriver on my 02 when I had the stronger springs put in(spolier).

For the hood do you need to remove them or just make so the hood sits at 90 degrees? Cause you can reposition the hood lifts to another hole that will do that.

i'm removing the hood entirely, so i'm guessing the hood lift shocks aren't difficult to remove.
