2003 CL-S

The hood is closed and the cable is broken. Anyone here been is the same predicament?

How can I pop the hood without the cable and if anyone has replaced the cable would love some tips

Hmm do you know what part of cable is broken?

Removed my cable and hood latch recently and installed hood pins.

Cable goes behind driver headlight and through the fender on drivers side.

If it broke where the interior release is then it should be rather easy. Just find the cable, cut away outside layer to get to metal cable , then pull metal with pliers to release.

 

if you squeeze your hands through the grille, maybe you can get access to the bolts that hold the latch

 

Don't see how that will work on CL.

 

you're right, i had modified my grille to where there is no black honey comb.
all i did was squeeze my hands into the grille opening to find the bolts.
once off, i undid the latch, which opened the hood.

maybe try from bottom of bumper.

 

Check the release in the driver's compartment, it may of came off at the release handle.

Otherwise you'll have to come from under neath the bumper by removing the lower baffles.

I will have to see if I can tug on the cable without opening the hood.

If the cable broke off at the latch, sounds like it's going to be a real pita to get the hood to pop.
