Guys, I am not sure if it was discussed before or not, but I just visited Honda Prelude Message Forum.... you'll be surprised how many peole have tranny problems....
Their main problem is that tranny starts shifting very rough and many have replaced trannies.
My friend had rough shifting problem on his Prelude, once he changed tranny fluid problem went away....

 

wasnt the prelude the 1st car to use the 4spd SS?

 

not sure, they do have SS, i think its 5sp, but could be 4....
it got 200 HP for 4 cylender 2.2 engine... its a lot of HP for 4 cylenders.

 

the car i had before the CL was a 2000 prelude with SportShift! it's a 5 speed SS! and yes, i had problems too. 4rth gear would shift pretty hard, and at 13000 miles, i took it in and honda ordered me a NEW tranny!

so yes, i have experience with the newer ludes too

 

Have a friend in Irvine that replaced his 99'Accord V6 tranny with 60,000m. Last week got my new Consumer Reports copy of cars and no mention of any tranny problems! Next week I'll hit 10,000m. and zilch problems. Knock on that burl plastic interior!

 

Wait a second the the prelude has only a 4 speed SS cause i have the Dealer book in front of me for the 2001 Prelude. TypeSDragoon you are either lying about owning the prelude or you are really confused about your old car. I was going to get a 2001 auto prelude till i heard that they will stop making them and that i found the cl-s was better for only a 6 grand more.

 

i made a mistake, the lude is a 4 speed. i was asleep when i typed that stuff (or half drunk) oh, and i'm not lying about my lude, i have pic of it in the link in sig.

 

Sorry about that. I have a thing about people posting mistakes about honda's. I am one of those perfectionists oh love Honda/Acura and i will stand by them till the end. I now remember that i have seen you lude before so i was wrong about that one.

 

actually, to expand more, i sorta recall typing the number wrong , but then after that, i said i had trouble when it went into fourth gear, so i totally screwed that one up they shit part is is that you can't edit after 5 minutes, and i didnt notice it till after that
