Homelink Help
Homelink Help
I'm having problem with programming the homelink on my CL to work with a garage door opener with the rolling secured codes. I had the homelink codes reset but still couldn't get it to program. I tried it on an MDX and it worked.
Any one can help ?

This is how I recall it's done. I don't have the CL manual in front of me...
1) Make sure the codes are all clear in the CL. Hold the first and third buttons down until the Homelink LCD light is rapidly flashing.
2) Open the garage door and then unplug the garage door opener.
3) Hit the programming button on the back of the garage door opener.
4) Run to the CL, depress the remote garage door opener button and the button on the Homelink that you wish to program at the SAME time. Release when the Homelink LCD button begins to flash rapidly.
5) Return to the garage, plug in the opener into the outlet.
6) Depress the recently programmed Homelink button. The garage should close.
It should work!!!

What is pressing the programming button on the back of the garage door opener going to do if it's not plugged in?

I'm sure everyone's is different.
I know that Craftsman units definitely need to be plugged in for programming because they flash the overhead light to let you know it got the signal correct.
The mistake that most people make is they program the remote to the car, but forget to “teach” that new code to the opener.

thanks but i've tried what Scrib mentioned several times. The homelink would not flash rapidly at all. It never learned the code. The homelink works with a regular non-rolling code openers. I think the homelink is malfunctioning and my car is out of warranty.
Another issue is my moonroof that just kept rattling. The dealership said that they have done what the bulletin stated and there's nothing more they can do. The moonroof still rattles. Is there only 1 bulletin out there for the cl moonroofs.

1. In car - hold button 1 and 3 for a long time. I did mine and it took almost 3 minutes to clear to codes.
2. Unplug opener.
3. Go to car and hold homelink button and door opener button until it sets.
4. Go back to garage and plug in opener.
5. Hit button on back of opener
6. Run back to car and hold button in until it sets.
If this doesn't work, your homelink is not working right with rolling codes.
Thanks for the info, worked perfectly, I am sure the first time.
I had to do it 5x & then when neither the original remote nor the Homelink worked and I tried it
AFTER I MOVED THE CAR OUT OF THE DOORWAY
as I was going to research the specific make & model and tried it, it closed.
I forgot about the object sensor which kills the opener. DOH!
