HOLY HELL!!! Outrageous Price Quote

While I was getting my oil changed at Acura I went ahead and just asked how much would it cost to get Comptech Sways and the Comptech Lowering Springs...

She quoted me $678 for parts (about right, looking at ACP and ComptechUsa.com

But the labor was $861..WOW!!!! Looking at Comptechs web site for the highest possible install time (7 hours)..that breaks down to $123~ per hour..WHAT THE F***

So, just buy them and take them to like a, for example, Dan's Suspension and Muffler Shop...

I guess I could do that, since they usually all backup their workmanship on installs....

DUUUH! Dont know why that didnt click

when I bought my car, the dealer wanted $999 for CT springs (installed). Certain dealerships are just a little out of touch with reality (and then you've got the other end of the spectrum like Park Ave)

If you get the service manual, spring install is not difficult. The manual walks you through step by step.

I called my dealer just for fun to see how much they wanted for a spring install, and it was about $640, just for the springs.

The sick part is that a lot of peeps walk into a dealer w/out a clue as to what the springs cost and/or what they do (except make the car look kewwwl). And the capper? They have $$ to burn and the dealer knows it so they get a fish on the line w/ little to no effort. There's probably more guys unlike the peeps on this board than there are on it who don't have a clue, don't know how to do it themselves, don't wanna be bothered, have the cash and bingo! Make the uneducated purchase.

not that bad, my buddy bout pro-kits from some shop and had them instaled. It cost him 600$!!!!

also, if you don't have much experience with working on cars, i'd leave the springs to a shop. You might as well have them do sways to.

I think the average labor cost for any Acura dealership $75/hour....the springs shouldnt take but 2 at the most and the sways maybe 3....so they were definitely trying to rip you off.....good thing you didnt bring any vaseline w/ you cause you would've taken it up the butt

they tend to rip people off on labor. I was going to get a starter installed at the dealer and they said it would be $180 labor. There was no way I was going to pay that knowing how easy it is. I went home and had it done in a little over a half and hour. That comes out to $360 an hour- a little ridiculous dont you think?

When I had my springs installed the labor was 70 bucks and the springs were 205. Got it done at a local shop in about 2.5 hours. I never bothered waisting my time calling the dealer and hearing their crazy ass prices.
