What the?? I thought BMW learned from the 4.6is. It didn't sell well. Why are they trying it again? I mean, the numbers are impressive, but the market is extremely limited for such a car. I guess they didn't want to lose market share to the Cayenne Turbo.

Working for Infiniti, I've gotta plug the FX45 for a V8 powered SUV...

Ours is sportier, faster than everything but the Porsche S version, and looks more aggressive IMO.

Plus - it's priced less, longer warranty, and big discounts.

Hell, you could buy TWO FX45s for the cost of ONE Porsche.

I've actually seen quite a few 4.6 is's in my area though so they did sell somewhere.

Also, not bashing Infiniti because they make great cars, but its two different ball games. Infiniti doesn't carry the same status as BMW, let alone Porsche. Not to mention that the BMW has the highest saftey rating in the class I believe.

Do you mean the Turbo version cuz the FX45 is way quicker then a Cayenne S?

Also the FX45 is faster then an X5 4.8is from 0-60? Most "mags" give it (FX) a 6.2 sec sprint.

Actually, buying an X5 for utility is like buying a Prada change purse to go backpacking. There's no cargo room in that thing.

Infiniti outhandles the BMW, sorry to say. Out brakes too. Out accelerates too. The Infiniti is only topped by one, the Porsche S, and it's $80k.

Volvo has the highest safety rating in the SUV world. I think.

Infiniti add things that neither Porsche or BMW are doing... 300watt 11 speaker BOSE, XENON high AND low beams, real brushed aluminum on the inside, 20" wheels factory... intelligent key, laser cruise control, back-up cam, etc...

BMW has a good name, I agree. Infiniti used to make absolute CRAP. Hopefully our cars will continue to make 'Best Of' reports and build their brand to the BMW level.

Also - and this is BIG - Infiniti now carries the highest residual values over any other brand in 2004. That means the FX, G35, Coupe, etc... don't depreciate as much as the BMW or Mercedes or Porches of the world.

Side note on the Porsche Toureg, er, Cayanne... the thing is the EXACT same as the VW counterpart. Same chassis, same elect.,, etc... FX is built on the G35 Coupe chassis

AND - the AWD system comes from the Nissan Skyline GT-R in Japan... that says something. Built on a race car chassis, with race driveline.

Well, FX45 is an exellent car, maybe cheaper, but not necessorily best bang for the buck when you considering the resale value.

When FX45 Vs X5 4.4, maybe they are about the same accelaration, since FX45 has only like few more torque advantage. But there is no way FX45 is faster than 4.6 is, let alone 4.8 is.

do the BMW's have 20's? if they do then yea, i bet they would out-perform the FX. but i bet if you get a good set of 20's (somewhat light, or at least lighter than stock) then i bet the FX would be a very close match.

I am about 99% positive i saw one this week in baltimore. Was crossing the street and looking at it thinking it was a mean looking X5. when he drove by i was like what was that liter on the side? I did not even know they had a 4.8? pretty mean looking truck.
