HKS Drager Axle-Back

Anybody know anything about or have/had this system? I really like how it looks and it's HKS so I don't doubt the quality of it but sound is what concerns me primarily. Haven't been able to find a video of it at all on a CL-S and I'm very curious as to what it sounds like. Also, anybody have any idea where I can get it? The only site I've seen carry it is AutoCarParts ( http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1296/2/ ) and I would prefer to not rock a craigslist exhaust lol.

I thought that was discontinued for the CL? Call before you buy to make sure they have it.

i had them on for several months. the droning in 5th gear was fairly loud and the stereo couldn't drown it out so i sold them to another member. on the plus side there was a noticeable hp gain so that was cool.

I have them on now and they aren't too bad. I've gotten used to the added sound coming from comptech exhaust but I wanted something more aggressive and I got it. It's louder but the tone is nearly the same, very deep. But I don't need to turn up the radio or anything. Just make sure to run it with your stock mid-muffler in place. They don't drone on the freeway for me too much.

I would recommend them if your looking for a step up from comptech sound.

Lol, I already got rid of that silly mid-muffler. Any chance you could grab a sound clip for me?

I'll see what I can do. Anything specific? If I do get one, its going to be with my cell phone so I'm not sure how good the sound is going to be.

this is a really old vid but you can kind of hear the exhaust in the vid. the supercharger kind of drowns them out and i wasnt really getting on it because i wasnt tuned at the time. i have hks superdragers. i love them.

Neither will yield any more than 5-6hp. You could also do Apex-i WS2 mufflers and have them welded to stock exhaust. The WS2 cans look very similar to Super Dragger cans.

will be near $500/pr. or do the Copies Megan racing makes $115 a piece.

Megan OE-RS

Just a little food for thought. You come out with same power for a 3rd the price while also getting the same sound.

i want direct bolt on and a tone I won't hit myself in the head for.. so i think CT is the only way. since I don't like a loud car.

i shall order them today.

then i'll have 235 whp woo hoo..

i definitely will gain 5-6 since i have every bolt on accept exhuast...

and my cousin has the brand new 2011 mustang v6 auto.. SO that will be a close ass race.. along with my other boy in his SS cobalt with intake (who i've beaten already) but he's getting more mods. and my other boys 2001 mustang bullitt with intake is JUSt a hair faster than me too..

so it's gonna be some good times.

plenty of filming is going down this summer

HOLD on..

HKS has the accord v6 listed still... but that is not the same as our car correct?

cause the part number that is in that website you posted in post #15 is listed on HKS's website for the accord not the cl...

and I cannot find a cl application anywhere so can someone please let me know.

I'd buy the hks if it's available cause it's local and cheaper.

i have comptech axlebacks and they do sound great, but they are overpriced. You can get similar tones with the other brands mentioned and they probably give the exact same gains. You can have a shop weld them on and keep your flanges if need be. That way you can always unbolt them if you need to.

I bought another CL-S6 that already had them on it. Selling my other CL6.

I definitely wouldn't pay that much for axlebacks. I would keep your eye on the blackmarket and go on vacation in the mean time. Just watch out for VD....that can last long too! lol.

Magnaflow mufflers, have them welded, sound the best. I used to have HKS and they were great, but a little less mature.

Sorry I havent been able to get to it. I need a second person to hold the camera lol
I'll try to get one to you within a couple of days. The exhaust is going to sound different after its warmed up or after its cooled down.

Yeah I'm still trying to decide between Magnaflows and the HKS. I love the price and sound of the Magnaflows (14814) but the HKS look amazing IMO but the cost is killer for an axle-back. I'm not really too worried about making the CLS fast, so HP gains aren't really my main concern here. It's all about the sound she makes. I'd much rather have a car that looks and sounds great than a fast one. Plus FWD FTL lol. And whenever you can get a video made is fine, no rush here just make sure it's not a cold start, makes a huge difference and I think we all know that.

No....

I said 60 not 55. 55 is too slow, with 60 you can draft the rigs

There is more drone as the RPMs move higher but its still very tolerable.
