I don't remember going that fast against them - I don't like to drive very fast against other cars because you never know what they might do.

If I am alone and the freeway is empty, I'd go a little fast.

Over 110mph I either a) run out of highway, or b) start getting a crazy shimmy in the steering wheel b/c of poorly balanced wheels...

I did a search, but didn't find any match for a rev limit shift light. Anyone ever install one. If so, could you provide some details?

thanks...

You could easily use a RPM switch from MSD or similar. This would allow you to install a small, unobtrusive shift light.

Look at the Shiftlight. I've had them in two cars. One was hidden behind the A/C duct. Can't miss the LED light. Install was as easy as power, ground, rpm & signal. You set the rpm,...nothing else needed.

modaddict,

but how would that work cause the shifts are different from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 etc,

u have to shift earlier on the 1-2 than the 2-3 cause the revs are climbing quicker

I hit 145 on a highway outside of nashville that is pretty new so not too much traffic, ran out of highway before I could hit the limiter, but did it 5th gear almost hitting redline didnt even have to shift to sixth...wanna do it again but now they are using laser around here which i was recently ticketed with...stock tires rims btw

Set the shift light at what rpm you want the light to come on. I'm a bit slow so I'd set it at 6700,...by the time I see the light and shift , it would probablly be at 7000. The Si has a 9k rev limit, but the power peaks at about 8200, so the light is set at 8400. A good quick shift keeps us in the sweet spot for the next gear.

Where at, which interstate (I assume interstate)? There are several place on I-24 (which I often travel between Atlanta and Nashville) which I could easily attain high speeds.

It is this way with all cars and you make a compromise. You normally end up knowing to delay shifts in the higher gears.

That would wake him up. I've had it happen 4 times. (but I was also trying to make it happen when I knew the tranny as on it's last leg) Getting a video for the board. They are probably still in the transmission section seomwhere.

60-70mph dump into second is scary enough. 140 into second would be nuts!

Darrin so did you bring a book to read while you waited from 130 to 148?

The auto is geared like chit, I bet they did it to make the MPG go up.

Or... go buy a gtech competition. It has a graphical RPM guage with rev limiter. It also needs no connections to the engine. Just power.

Unfortunatly I have done in in two different cls. My old cls sleeper the ride was a lot harder to just change one lane then in one thats dropped with 18s. The worst part was the windows being done. Either way changing lanes without losing control is the hard part.

Feels light over 130? Just curious, do you have a spoiler?

Re: "its smokey central": EVERYONE SAYS THAT!! I have never seen a trooper in that area ever... Guess I'm just lucky, knock on wood.

Your freaking nuts man. I know the area your talking about the turns are a little crazy for 140+ . Lucky nothing happened. Atleast it was the meadowbrook north i heardly see cops there but south of SS its crazy freaking vultures. and LIE is no better. Suffolk cops will eat u up for going 5 MPH over the limit they will prolly rodney king ur ass for doing that kind of speed. If they are video taping you from their dash and they tell theur partner to turn off the camera RUN!!!

He’ll learn or he’ll DIE.
And hopefully he won’t take any innocent victims with him when/if it happens.

the turns yer talkin bout are after the Hempstead Tpke. exit and after the coliseum exit which is where he got off...the stretch he's talkin about is perfectly straight...only thing is it's not that long...only a few miles at best...so to go that fast in such a short stretch only tells me u'd have to be going pretty fast by the time u pass the SS pkwy.

wherebouts on the island r u????

The turns right after 24 arent too bad either, with no one on the road i was able to cut across lanes to allow for the turns and basically cut corners until I got to just before the mall exit. For the most part I didnt really have to turn the car, probably a good thing.

And I would never even consider trying that on the way to the beach (southbound).
