Angry Hit and run.....

So as i come out of the kragens I looked at my rear bumper and that thing is smashed in. Now i gotta part my suspension just to get this fixed. Insurance is asking for the 500 deductable up front. I was already quoted 1200 for damages. Will take pictures asap but as for now damn.

i gotta sell it to get the 500 to pay for the 500 deductable. I wont be getting my paycheck until end of next week so i need the cash to get this fixed. Only because i have to. Im going to be taking the cl down to LA at the end of the month and i dont want that huge dent in the bumper. If anything when i go down to LA ill pick up the f2's they go lower.

Looks like somebody slid a shopping cart into mine yesterday.

Dude...what is wrong with people...!

Do they have surveillance in the parking lot at Kragen?

no even if they did it was during the night time theres no way you can tell which license plate is which. but remember the lucky's you went to before you stopped by it was in that area but in the middle of the parking lot. Yeah the tail light isnt damaged but my reinforcement needs replacement and the frame to be pull just a little. You can see the reinforcement dented into my trunk.

Yeah...I remember that shopping center.

I see what you are saying.

I think you could get that fixed for around $500.

Not going through insurance...

Try to find some salvaged CL and buy the bumper...

Get it painted and you could probably install it yourself.

Or is there more then just bumper damage?

fix it yourself brother, i've fixed worse, just pop it out, the paint will probly crack, but get it sprayed after u sand it and primer... trust me, its not that bad!

doesnt look bad at all, dont see how there could be any frame dmg.

its not just that the reinforcement is smashed in from underneath you cant see it and if i were to pop it out and spend all the money and time in the bondo to repair it mine as well put out 200 and get a used bumper w/o reinforcement. there are holes in the bumper also. Not to mention its cracked.

no because i have full coverage mine as well use it. even my uncle told me that i should file insurance. a bumper is 200 bumper, with reinforcement is about 250-300, plus paint. thats about almost how much the deductable cost. And not only that, i wont have a 1200 budget, my budget would be 500 or lower correct? That means no front end paint no trunk paint just enough paint for the rear bumper. In the end the 500 will come back to me just need the money to put out front.

That's amazing that you got frame damage from that little ding on your bumper.

Who told you there was frame damage?

Sorry to hear, but it's nowhere near what you are making it.

There's no reason to "part" anything out. The car is perfectly drivable like that. No reason other then looks you can't drive it that way till you can afford to get it get fixed.

Insurance will pay minus the deductible, but only for the damage. How do you expect to get anything else covered by insurance? Front end painted?
That's a easy fix. Repaint a used bumper. You can get that done for under $500 easy. Take it off yourself & put it back on yourself. Really easy with the DIY threads, & basic hand tools.
Your already paying $500 why would you file insurance on a hit & run, when it's going to be a claim on your record(weather it effects your rates or not)

Well the damages add up to 1200 so thats basically what the insurance is going to pay me. They said the reinforcement was damaged and was pushed in. So im going to have my uncle do it and with the extra money use it on other things.

The "Reinforcement" They are referring to is just a Styrofoam pad under the bumper. All bumpers have them. Replacement in most cases is only cause's it's there, & by law insurance has to replace it when replacing a bumper. You don't really need too in most cases. Bumpers are hollow which is why there's a big dent in it.
Insurance prices are always higher since they replace all the little things.(clips, trim etc) Paint labor adds to it, then tax, & shop fee's.

First of all you don't need money to put up front. When you file a claim and the insurance company either has an adjuster come look at it or has you take it somewhere to get looked at they assess the damage and they will pay the difference of the damage minus your deductible.

Well in my case i will it was filed as a hit and run, no police report. So they could suspect that something didnt happen i dont know but the insurance lady asked me to bring a check of 500 out there. BTW asian parents will make me take care of it asap. and i need my car for LA in 2 weeks.

Sounds strange to me because you don't pay the deductible to the insurance company you pay it to the shop or repair facility when your car is done or if they give you the money they will just deduct the deductible amount and give you the difference.

Exactly, if the shop was owed $1,200, the insurance company would cut a check to them for $700 and you'd cover the other $500 since that is your deductible amount.

FYI, for the $700, you are going to pay MUCH more in insurance premiums over the next few years.

There is also the impact beam at which the rear bumper absorber (styrofoam) is attatched to. If you do have to get the frame pulled a little, replace the bumper, styrofoam, the impact beam and painting the bumper then 1200 is believable. I just had to replace the bumper and rear absorbers and i could barely find a shop to give me a quote for over 1k in damage. (my deductable was 1k.)
