high powered FWD 300+whp

I see the numbers posted by some of the fast Cl-s on this forum, how do u guys get all that power on the ground especially without using slicks. how do u all manage the understeer especially at launches.
i know lowering the car helps a bit but thats about it.
I also read somewhere that using slicks on such setup with that much torque & Hp will end up breaking the acuara CL's drive terrain(cv' joints and all
)

So how do u manage a 300+ whp FWD at lunches

somebody/anybody tell me>>>>>>

i know this much

Drag radials such as the Nittos help

Stiffer struts and lowering the car also helps a great deal

i also think bigger or thicker front strut bar helps but not sure.....

knowledge is power.....................

As long as you don't let the wheels hop madly, the cars put down the power fine. Remember our cars also weigh 3700 lbs, so they are by no means light(more weight to hold the wheels to the ground) plus 63% of that weight is on the front wheels.

but remenber now that when making 300 + whp and almost 300 pounds of torque on a front wheel drive at a standstill especially on fwd there is bound to be wheel hop and just becos its a fwd and weighs over 3000 pounds does not make up for the torque steer which might be excessive. remenber the weight distribution in FWD setup & static friction.

You don't stand on it from a stop or low speed. You learn to exercise throttle control.

Our cars are not making 300 WTQ unless your all-motor or BlueCLS6. Also our cars have a very strong drivetrain.

Plus, our cars handle torque steer fairly well. Much better than the newer chassis(TL) can.

Don't go WOT from a stop and I'm fine. If I get on it too hard... HOP HOP HOP HOP. I need to change those bushings that johntypes had done. Supposedly 5 bushings upfront were swaped and he no longer has problems.

He also had Garage Kwai make custom wheel hop(torque) bars for him. I talked to them and they said they could make me a set for roughly 200.

However if you try going WOT from a dead stop in a S/C CL it can be very scary.

Sweet. I'll be calling them later today.

EDIT: Do they make axles for the Accord already? I wonder if they would fit the CL-S.

Nah, custom made I believe through Driveshaft Shop. Garage Kwai will place an order for better pricing

As far as CLS fitment I dont see why not

Nobody, except AWD cars and those running slicks, go ALL OUT from a stop. As soon as you've got a car w/ decent power you always have to exercise some degree of throttle control. Once you're rolling, then it's pedal to the floor.

Torque steer is managable with my setup. It really only pulls when accelerating hard out of a turn.

BTW, at the track I've NEVER experienced wheel hop or torque steer. Going straight on a flat surface is ideal. Those little valleys and peaks in the road really magnify the amount of torque steer one feels.

Its because of the disconnected IMRC and it is roughly where VTEC enganges

RWD cars experience the same thing, except for torque steer. They have the advatage of weight transfer, but will still spin and hop the wheels.

And I don't exactly put down tons of power(stck CL-P), but even when autocrossing, when I step on it out of the turns, the car doesn't torque steer. But then again I ain't pttin down 300 WTQ

That is correct, the VTEC change over occurs at 4800 RPM and you can easily see it on that chart.

3470 lb. (3485 lb. with Navigation System)

+ driver and gas will probably put you at 3700 lbs. Especially if you have a system in your car

Hey John remember when I went to Byron with you and Astro boy and a few of the accord guys. My car with me in it weighed 3785lbs. At the time I had 3/4 of a tank and I weigh 160lbs. Now I keep the spare out so i'nm probably down to 3745.

Hey 02AV6, was your car silver at one time. When I was at garage kwai getting dyno runs this summer there was a silver accord w/sc and was waiting for a cl-s head swap + more work? Benson and the boys are really cool over there.
