high flow catalytic converter
high flow catalytic converter
random technology has a high flow cat for the cls. random claims 17hp and 13lbs increase. I don't know how true this is, but as a former mustang owner the freer your exhaust is the more power you make. I'am ordering mine next week. The part number is 822008.
Their web site doesnt list the CL on there

Depending on price... a high flow cat is a superb mod.
Good amount of power... and you can prolly install it yourself.

This is from their website...thus probably no 2001 model year for a while.
"Under Federal EPA regulation, replacement of original catalytic converters is allowed only if the original converter(s) is missing, or the vehicle has more than 50,000 miles or is at least five years old and the need for a replacement has been established and documented, or a local inspection program has determined the existing converter is in need of replacement."

01 CL-S San Marino Red/Black, K&N drop in, no nav, rear wing, otherwise stock thus far, has an appetite for Bavarian cars.

Although Random Tech. (not to far from me) has always been reputable this HP increase is a bit hard to beleive.
It may of been the case 15 years agao but current cat technology is much improved. In fact, our catalytic converter only had 2" wc back pressure at 100 CFM and 3" wc at 200 CFM.
This might contribute to about 1 - 2 HP difference.

heya,
talked to a rep, clay.
he said a person with a type s stock was at:
209, after the high flow cat was 221. so it's 12 horses.
torque, he says, will be around +/-13.
he wouldn't honor a group buy, but offered another company light??? at 225 752-2738.

I may have to stop by there and ask about this. Was this reported by an individual or did they do it?? Do they have the plots to show and was this on the same dyno??
Ah, I'll just stop by and ask them myself and get to the bottom of it.
But again, it sounds pretty far fetched. Did someone accidentally move a decimal place??

i question the quality. the warranty is 2 years for emissions, and 5 years for unit itself.
scalbert, can you check out the quality when you go there? also, i'm curious of the lifespan of the cat, since it's only warrantied for 2 years. thanks!

Since you don't mention the year of the car and its mileage, I used an 03 CLS automatic, on the link below, to find you what you need. The info to answer your question is there:
