Hid questions

hey everyone ive got a stock 01 CL-S and im about to get some HID for it

ive been looking around the internet, ended up with kaixen HIDs. I was going for the McCulloch 12000k, but the LM on that is only twice as much as a normal halogen bulb.

What HID brand do you guys use and suggest for ur CL?

Oh yeah, is our foglight H3 bulb?

no foglights.

12000k is gonna have shitty output anyway. unless you're a ricer i'd suggest you stick with 4200-6000k. so far i've only bought OEM phillips bulbs.

im looking at kaixen 6500k which is extreme white with a tint of purple. My stock hid is very bright but doesn't go very far, actually not far at all. Do you guys think these kaixens will do the trick?

how come no foglights? i checked on sylvania and the bulb size 168/194 but some people have h3 for their foglight in CL. Whats up with that? im looking for some kind of golden/hyper yellow 2500k to 3000k for fogs. Any suggestions?

You're in luck.

I have an 01 CLS with Kaixen HID's.

I love the look and the light output is less than stock but nothing noticeable.

The higher in Kelvin = less light output...so stay away from any of the "ricer" ranges above 6500k.

Some might even argue that mine is but I don't think so...light output is white with very slight purple hue...slight.

Next, CL has NO fog lights so just do yourself a favor and throw out that terminology.

They are "roadlamps" and completely useless.

That is why in 2003 they scrapped the entire "roadlamp" and put open bumper inserts.

You could put LED's in those roadlamps but they won't have any affect like what you are desiring.

You'll have to search the forums to see what other member's ideas or solutions to this ongoing issue.

And you can get a deal on those Kaixen HID's from Excelerate, one of our Acurazine vendors.

For future reference...you can find those specials here...

Any Acura dealership for the inserts.

Standard with the '03 models.

Never installed so no clue on installation.

You can buy HID fog light kits but you need some fog lights.

Other people have all kinds of things they are experimenting with.

Either way...it's custom so you are kind of on your own with it.

There is no kit made and those roadlamps can't support the temp. of HID's so you need a custom application to make it work.

Good luck.

you can get some PIAA bulbs, not sure what size, but they have a higher watt rating then the stock bulbs. dont go too high or else its too hot for the housing. the color matches stock HID and the output looks great (at least in member pics).

bulbs are like 20-30 bucks though.
