hey

My friend got a CL about a year ago and i took a liking to them... so i went and bought 1 for my self last month... the only thing that bothers me about the car is that its front wheel drive... so i have decided to make it my project drift car! I'm gonna do a rwd swap and throw a Camaro 347 ls1 with a manual 6 speed transmission and a Corvette rear end. I don't know what i want to do about front suspension yet so i do have my work cut out for me. for the drive shaft i will just have to mix and match and I'll have to modify the ecu for the motor leave me some feedback and tell me what you think

You are going to twist that car all to shit. You should have just bought a Camaro.

Think about it guys. If our v6's just barley fit in there sidways how the hell do you think a LS1 V8 is going to fit in there. Unless your going all out like ThinJim, it ain't going to happen.

When you say stuff like " for the drive shaft i will just have to mix and match and I'll have to modify the ecu for the motor".

It makes me think you have not though this out well. Anyone with fabrication experiance (which you'll need a lot of) would know that you don't mix and match for drive shafts, you make them, or pay to have one made for your application. Also your not going to modify a CLS ECU to run a LS1!

Well if your serious, cool. You have a ton of work, time & $ to burn through. Contact ThinJim he's doing a similar thing.

OP, I was gonna mention Thinjim as well...he's working on a RWD CL which won't be street legal when its finally done.

But most has been said here already...it really comes down to dedication and how deep your pockets are. It seems you'd already understand this, so best of luck, keep us updated if anything like this is actually possible.

either way, Ill stick to my FWD 6 cylinder, as the car was meant for.

Hey CoolWhhip!!, it's always refreshing to hear something new and I hope you pull off your "one of a kind" custom CL.

Good luck!
