Just goes to show you you can't rely solely on magazines for information decisions.

Exactly...ask many of the local (Houston) Vette guys and he's a straight up dickhead, even not considering his seeemingly shady business practices...

You'd think that guys with the means to blow 140k on aftermarket mods on a car would have connections to "remedy" these type of situations...

He has been shady for years....no thanks, plenty of other tuners out there (SVS, Doug Levin Motorsports, Roe Racing, Lingenfelter, TNT, etc).

I can't believe that the guy actually sent the crook that much money up front. That Hennessey guy can just rot in hell though.

Yeah that's pretty lousy. The next time I lose a $10 or a $20 bill, I'll just forget about it and move on.

But I have to ask, how does one wire more than $100,000 in funds without a written contract [for service]? You would never give $30,000 in cash to a dealership down the street without getting a receipt would you?

There's going to be problems in that courtroom....

You know….
Just the other day I was thinking about spending 142,500-dollars to customize my new CL.

I’m really glad my wife talked me out of it.

Typical case of Way Too Much Money, and Very Little Brains!!!!!! You see a car on the cover of a magazine and then run out and spend $140K+ on top of the $80K you paid for the car?????? I don't feel sorry for him or any of the other fools at all. Call me cold, but did anybody check out his shop??? This guy has NEVER gone to Texas!!!!!! He even sent a "trusted friend" to go check on the car. Too busy counting your money and couldn't go???? If I was spending over $200K on a car, I would be sitting there a watching it being built and sleeping in the shop!!!!! Just my 2 cents!!!

your 2 cents is skewed by the fact that you don't know what it is to have that kind of cash....
things take on different priorities when you can afford to not have to deal with anything...

Exactly, he wired over $122k and then gets a simple phone call from John and sends an additional $20k for another 200hp.....in his sig, he also has a Z06, Z8, X5 4.4- this fellow eats, shits, and sleeps money. If I was in his position, I would definitely send some people down to check on my car (but they would most likely be big nasty goons).

If your going to spend that much money, my god, at least meet with the guy face to face. Check out some of his work, and get some references.

We have all made stupid mistakes, thankfully none this big!!!

When you can wire $100k without a second thought, the little details that most of us poor folk nag about probably doesn't even come into his mind. As long as it's done, then he's happy. If he's not he'll send goons. Welcome to the world of the rich, powerful and stupid!

I think that belongs to the guy who recieved his [Taig Stewart] email and posted it on the Corvette forum. I'd love to know however what kinda cars the dude who dropped over 200k has.

Taig started his email by saying he was a porsche guy...I would imagine he has had or still has some nice products of theirs...

man, those guys got skrewed out of alot o cash..."I decided which options to go with, etc., until finally we'd come to an
agreement that totaled $122,500--not including the car"...ha, wouldnt it be nice to have the option of just dropping $100k+ on modifications ALONE...

That's the nature of the "con" man. He gets your money under false pretenses and he'll do it to Hennessey, you and I regardless of how much money, time, or common sense we have. You and I haven't been taken for $200,000 because we don't have $200,000 to be taken. But it could happen.

That's why the law is there to protect us. Because it's a known fact that a con man can take you for all you are worth, even the smartest and most cautious people. Enron is a good example. You trusted (for whatever reason), you got taken.

Is this THE Hennessey....Not to seem stupid but is that the guy who's car was shown in numerous magazines?? Because if it is and Taig is a multi-millionaire then it is almost understandable why the guy would put his trust into Hennessey....But then again
