Help with "X" CAI
Well I Broke down and bought a Xephyer from Park Ave. My questions are;
1)The unit has only one 90 degree bend, AEM has a slight 20 degree bend near the bottom. Do I have the right unit?
2) Are there suppose to be any lower mounting brackets? Seems like this thing is just connected to the throttle bodyand floating. PA said they were sending me the complete kit.
3) The end of the Air filter has a corner bent in about 2 inches, is this by design or has it been damaged? Shipping container has not been smashed.
4) What is the rubber ring for at throttle side? It looks like the tube should fit without it.
I got my "turning, clicking thing" and I 'm ready to install if this is the right unit.
Thanks for any help

That tube sounds shady. You actually do need the rubber thing to reinforce it at the engine end. And there should be a stablizer part near the middle that bolts with a rubber buffer to the frame. My InJen has a bend that makes the filter face forward.

So the less bends and the less degree of bends is a good thing. Hence the reason the 'X' CAI and AEM CAI face downwards.
Don't flame if I'm wrong, just nicely tell me to shove it!!

and as for all these comments on the "design"
these oddities werent "engineered" to be a feature.
its just that all X did was buy a standard mandrel bent tube, which you can order from anywhere in a standard 2.75 or 3" diameter... and it cost less with less bends. Also... the fact that its a 90 degree bend may or may not be intentional... it would be much cheaper to get a pipe with a 90 degree bend ad have it cut to a certain length on each axis rather then get a custom bend.
The X cai is not MADE for our car's at all... its just a pipe. With a cone filter... that you can jerry rig in there.
Either way... in its defense... it works... and it gets the job done damn near as well as the others.
And I do believe its a 3" diameter tube. Could be wrong though... but I was pretty sure... and I know that the sidewalls are same thickness as the others.
It is a quality tube. There just wasnt much R&D into the fitment of it.
