HELP !! Wrong gas!

oh oh..

I was filling up my girlfriends TL and for some stupid reason i filled it up with 87 octange REGULAR gas... she had just over half tank still of the 91 and i topped it off with 87... is the car phucked now or is it still okay ?? It drove home fine and i didn't feel anything weird..

quick responses necessary as she is sick and if anything i can bring it to the shop for a flush ???

No, there is a knock sensor in the engine which will adjust the timing appropriately for the gas you put in.

you might here it knock slightly under full throttle... But I doubt it... And once you do hear it the ECU should make the appropriate adjustments.

CL, TL, TL-S, and CL-S run OK on 87 although it's not the recommended fuel.

when gas was like 4 bucks a gallon for a few weeks I used 87 for three straight tanks in my cl-s and it ran fine.

I'm positive, the sensor detects the knocking from the lower octane gas. And then the ECU will adjust the timing to compensate...

But it will deter the performance of the engine / mileage tho right? Cuz there must be a reason why 91 is the recommended no?

When I first moved to Toronto the petrol would dip to 47.5 cents a liter during the week (the oil companies would always jack the price back up over the weekend. Talk about collusion...

You'll be fine, just fill it up next time with the good stuff, after 2 tank fulls, it should be out of the system.

you'll be fine, when it hits about half a tank or even 3/4 tank mix in some higher octane if you want and repeat that if you are worried.

Holy shit, Times that by like 4 and thats what i pay for 93 or 91 but seriously, would it be cheaper to ship gas if it cost 70 cents, i'll buy gas for a 2 month period even.
