Help on reducing wheel hop

My car used to burn out smoothly on wet or dry ground, but after installing the cooling mods and unichip, I get mad wheel hop. I don't know if my tires are getting stickier or what but I need help on reducing it.

I have the adjustable height Tein coil overs but not the model with adjustable dampening. I have adjusted it to about a one finger gap and have had all four tires aligned and adjusted with rear cambers. Would lowering or raising my car help with wheel hop? Should I get a pair of super street damper shocks for the front to help fix this issue, or are there other more cost effective ways to do this?

Thanks

fill your motor/tranny mounts with polyurethane.

that should just about solve most of your issues unless your hitting real hard, in which case check this out:
http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...ad.php?t=61909

i think upgrading your rear swaybar will help a little with some of the weight dist.

Sway bar will only help with left/right body roll. Try stiffening up the dampening on your struts and see what that does.

i won't deny that sway bars main purpose is to help on turns.

maybe it's in my head, but when i install aftermarket sway bars w/ poly bushings, i notice the car 'bounces' a lot less on bumps/dips while going straight. more noticeable with an upgraded rear bar in a FWD car.

Getting a price from my garage right now about putting in polyurethane and the engine dampener as well. Both sound really good. I'll let you guys know how it goes when/if I am able to get them in.

Wow, great idea. Did some reading up on this and it looks very promising.

Gonna stick with the more common methods (polyurethane and dampener) first, then if that doesn't do the trick, I'm definitely looking into the custom dogbones.

Thanks!

No problem. Let me warn you though, with stiffer dogbones, the car will vibrate more. I mean, you will "feel" the car more. Can get annoying, but it's bearable.

This will almost completely eliminate wheel hop.

Has anyone heard of sliding in urethane inserts into the motor mount spaces? My shop said I can look into that as well, probably easier for them to install since they won't have to completely remove, inject and let dry then reinstall. I imagine the polyurethane would be better since there would be no play like an insert would have?

No he's talking about retrofiting polyurethane bushings in the control arms. I'm actually having this done next month. My suspension is already stiff so I won't mind.

ah, ok. aren't the control arms on our car the biggest source of traction loss?

I say an engine dampener should be all you need unless you have an insane set up under the hood. I think the dampener should keep the motor from raising or moving around dramatically reducing the wheel hop.

i'm not replacing control arm.

i'm only filling the front and rear hydraulic mounts with poly, and the left side mount with poly. and possibly adapting a damper.

no thanks to control arms though. thanks for the info though.
