Hello All,

My CL-S is rattling pretty bad at speeds higher than 85mph. Sometimes it is really bad and sometimes ok (still rattles though)!
I definitely want to get rid of it
I would appreciate any ideas on what I could do to rid of it!

What exactly is rattling??????????? What are you talking about?

 

I mean my car is shaking at high speeds and I do not feel safe. Sometimes it does shake when I am hard braking but not always..
It is kinda bothering me since I am paying a lot of money for the car and I can't even go past 90mph w/o feeling safe!!

 

Have you tried getting the tires balanced and having the brakes checked.

 

Agreed, sounds like you need to get your wheels re-balanced....

 

How old is this car, how many miles? Has the car been in an accident?

Just take it to the dealer, they will do tire rotation, balancing, alingment. This is no biggie.

 

My car is early prod in 2000. It is 2001 model though..
It has 40+ miles on it (I know it is a lot but I got a pretty good price on it).
I had a bent rim on right front and I replaced it, I just got the right rear tire repaired.. and found out that the rear rim is bent a little too. It is hard to see and it does not cause the tire to leak air..
I also do have the sunroof rattling problem and the rear speakers rattling sound problem as many of you guys had..
Also my sunroof does not open all the way back and I am not sure whether it is common to all CLs or just mine..
I guess a trip to dealer is a necessity at this point. The problem is I do not trust dealers anymore. When I changed my bent rim with a new one I told the guys to rotate balance the tires and also put the bent rim in the trunk. They did neither rotate it nor balanced it and did not put the old rim back in my trunk and not to mention that they charged me for rotating and balancing tires. And this is an Acura dealer!! I did not get this type of treatment even from Walmart!!
You know, the funny part is I had a flat tire because of the bent rim right after the 30K mile check up and those stupid techs did not even tell me that it had a problem!!!
Anyways I would appreciate if you guys could tell me possible cause for these problems so that I can go to service dept. more educated..

I also had another question about getting bent rims fixed.. If I could get the rims fixed then I could have a full size spare in case I need it!!

The sunroof not opening totally is universal.
The sunroof rattle has a TSB, and is common.

What dealer gave you bad service? let me know. I am trying
to maintain a 'recommended dealers' list in my FAQ so perhaps
you can use one of those. I would take my car in to be looked
at anytime I feel it is unsafe - nothing sucks worse than worrying
about the stability of your car!
