Help please...will 38 offset fit?

Looking at a deal on a set of 18x8 with a 38 offset. Tires are 225 40zr 18. Can anyone help? If tey fit I'd like to get them by this weekend. Thanks!

I don't think so.

Search the posts. There is one within a few days of today. I have 17x8 with +48 offset. I believe another guy had 18s or 19s with a 44 or 45 offset and said he couldn't fit a credit card between the inside rim and suspension.

The stock offset is +55, you need to get more to +44 to +48.

I found the link -- go to the last entry in this post. It has some info you must read!

Here is the link (just check the comment about the credit card not fitting):

Damn! But he has 18x7 while I'm looking at 18x8. Does this make a difference? Thanks for your help.

If you look in that same post, there is a tire calculator that I posted a link to. Just put in the stock specs in that link. Then put in the specs for your wheel. The 7" is not as wide, so yes it will be different.

1. Find the link in that thread. (I put it there).

2. Enter my data first (17x8 +48) vs the 17x7 +55 offset.

3. Mark down the inside clearance info.

4. Put your data in the right side of the sheet where mine was.

5. Make sure that the inboard clearance is at least as wide as mine.

Fender scraping with a really lowered or weighted down car is one think, but burning the paint of the suspension and killing yourself are another.

Please use the calc and check it out.

Also, call tire rack for some other wheels for the 2001 CLS (ask them for offset info in some of the sizes). If you are too far away from the "norm", you are getting into trouble.

Remember, stock 7" width rims are +55, you should be heading towards +55 not towards +30.
