Help with "PARK" sensor??
Help with "PARK" sensor??
Hello, as some of you might know, I crashed my beauty recently. Already "pulled" chasis bringing engine and front right wheel/column back into position.
Trying to start car but when in "PARK" it does not turn (as if it was in gear), if I by-pass directly to starter, engine will start. I am thinking that there is probably a sensor that detects when shift is in "P" and maybe it is out of position or something. Any suggestions? Is there such sensor? Where is it located? Battery is good, car starts if I wire direct to starter... it seems as if it is not detecting that lever is in "P" position... all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: shift light in dashboard stays only in D5, no matter where I shift lever and also, when pressing the brake, the lock in lever does not deactivate... does this give any clue???
Maybe there is something in the ECU kind of "locking" car??? maybe something to do with safety??? keep in mind that both airbags were deployed.
I can start car wiring starter directly and it will only start in "P" position, it wont turn in any other position (R or N or D)... that kind of indicates that lever position is being detected by car.
Should I "reset" something? Í've left battery disconected for long and see if that helps but no luck.
Thanks again to all!!
