Help with My Brakes!(TSB01-017)

Hi guys--could use some help here:
I had my brake shoes replaced at around 8000 miles under the TSB---now my car has around 34,000 miles and it is having the same pulsing sensation issues. I do not drive my car crazy at all as it is my commuter car and I need it to be reliable. Dealer is telling me that once they do the service bulletin work once they cannot do it again. Sounds like BS to me....anyone have this experience or could you offer any suggestions/help?

That TSB was supposed to turn rotors and replace the pads! When I first took my car in for brakes, they forgot to replace the pads and I was back there about 10,000 miles later, and had them replace the pads and the rotors (claimning that two turning of the rotors did not sit well with me). YMMV

I just bought new cross drilled brembo rotors and AEM pads to solve this problem, $243.00 for the parts.
Look for the group buy on this forum.
Stock rotors and pads suck, sorry.

hmm

Thanks for the replies guys but I still hope someone can answer my question as my car is at the dealer right now...Does the tsb
obligate the dealer to do the work under warranty?

Nope - A TSB just outlines a common problem and fix for that problem...Only OBLIGATED fixes are recalls- But if they cared at all about customer service, they would....MOST dealers do..

I would just bitch until they fixed it or take it to another dealer and try your luck...better then paying 100+ for new brakes and rotors

I am having the same pulsing problem with warper rotors. What is TSB? The dealer says he will turn the rotors but did not say anything about replacing the pads. Should I push them to replace the pads also? How can I get a capy of this TSB?

Unfortunately you are going through same ordeal many of us have been there before. I had my rotors cut at 15K, 30k at Park Ave. However, these damn rotors started acting up againe at 46K(damn they are punctual ) I decided to change them. I got Brembo rotors at Tirerack for $50 each. Installed them myself over a week ago. My advice is for a $100 get new Brembo rotors, it's not worth the hassle to dicker with the dealers. After another 15K, your rotors will act up again(guarantee you) then what will you do? To avoid further frustrations, change to after-market rotor will solve your problem. I know some members actually had them replaced by the dealers at no charge, but those are rare!

Was it just the front ones then that were the problem? You said $100 so I assume you only replaced the 2 fronts.

I agree, as I've had my rotors cut twice already.
They offered to replace them now, but I don't want the same problems down the road.
If you like your car, replace the crappy stock rotors and buy the Brembo's and you'll be problem free.

I am in the EXACT spot, dealer says no on the TSB and park ave. is 1.5 hrs from me. I feel its a waste of my time to keep messing with the dealers, espically when i am going to have to do it all over again in 15k.

I really think the best option is to put the aftermarket brembo rotors on, but any suggestions on pads?

Craig.

I think the axxis pads would be a good choice.

Ordinarily you should replace the rotors and pads together. But since my rotors have not started warping again, and the pads are more than half left and they are not glazed, I kept the pads and they are working fine. Tirerack carries about 4 brands of pads, I think the ceramic one should be good for our rotors. They are gentle on the rotors and very little dust.
