help with memory seats

Got rear ended.....when i got the car back from being repaired the memory seats and automatic seat functions didnt work.....brought to dip$hits at acura service department and thery told me that the module thing behind the fuse panel needed to be replaced so i had to bring the car back to them. they were good about giving me a loaner both times (tsx the 1st, didnt like) and tl this time which i do like. well they put the part in today and said it lasted about 30 seconds and died....what the heck could the problem could be

they seem to be trying to blame the stereo, auto start, and a ton of other accessories in the car but all this stuff was in well before the problem started, about 3 years

any suggestions is appreciated

thanks

That's what I would say. Something is shorting out the module. You had a crash you had work done, It's very likely some wire under the dash is messed up. I would take it back to the alarm place & get that checked, then check your stereo.

Hmmm...
Do you still have the factory amp connected?
The factory amp is located in the trunk next to the jack (behind the panel).
I only say this, because the wiring goes to it between the quarter panel and the amp. If you look from theoutside of the vehicle, it is right behind the passenger side rear wheel well.

I still don't know how this could be tied into the memory seating, but Acura wants to blame it then you should check it.

You could try to get it all disconnected, then give it back to the dealer & tell them to fix it. It's a short for sure if the modual is blowing out in that short of time. There's a whole test procedure outlined in the service manual the dealer needs to do. I can see them not wanting to mess with it with aftermarket wiring under the dash.

Tell them to send it to a specialist under their cost (or the insurance company's). It worked fine before, then it should get fixed. The car should be returned to the condition it was prior to the accident. If your insurance company says no, just tell your insurance company and they should do all of the talking for you... Then court if not...

*UPDATE*

They called me yesterday and said they needed the loaner back before the weekend and that if i wanted my car to drive i had to pay $723 more on top of the $87 i had already paid for diagnostic because they needed to do advanced diagnostic. (basically they plugged things in and they didnt work). After a heck of an argument they threw my keys at me and told me never to come back.

i refused to give them anything more right now because they still didnt fix anything

Needless to say i have a case going with acura right now

absolutely amazing

Hey Chris! Did you get the seats working? Just wondering what the problem might have been. I was rear ended about 3 years ago and my memory seats never worked after that. It's still not working but I don't have much use for it.

I'd reprogram the remotes to the car and see what happens and reset the ECU first.
