I am new to the board and I REALLY need help. I just bought a 2001 Acura (obviously) 3.2CL Type S. The car only comes with 1 key and no remote for the keyless entry. I want to get one off ebay, but I need some sort of code so I can get the right one. Does anyone know what the code is? I dont have one to go off of so I have no idea and no one will help me. Any info would be AWSOME!!!!!!

 

I might be wrong but I think you have to talk to your local Acura dealer.

You can buy any 2nd gen gray/silver remote. Either mem 1 or mem 2 on the back. mem1 links to your memory 1 seat settings & mem 2 remote links the 2nd. The remote has to be progrmmed to work with your car, since you don't even have 1 remote you will need to have a dealer look it up. I'm sure they will charge you.

 

you can program the remote easily without an existing remote.

do a search.

i remember doing mine and all it took was some button pressing and ignition turning sequence.

I live in North Dakota and we don't have an Acura dealer in the state. I have called dealers in Minneapolis and they have no idea what I am talking about (Probably just want some $$). I called Acura and she was a bitch telling me "We don't give codes over the phone..yada yada yada...go to your dealer"

What kind of search should I do??

Will any remote on ebay that says its for a 01 Acura CL work with proper programming?

yo man how did you do it? do you have some instructions? cause i ordered one off ebay like 8 months ago and i have never used it cause i cant get the damn thing programed? maybe a lil help?

 

So maybe someone with an '01 3.2CL-S can LOOK on their remote and then TYPE the FCC ID # into the computer......maybe

That's cool. I though you needed at least 1 remote. Maybe I'm confused with programming the Key?

My FCC ID is E4EG8D-444H-A and that should be the same for your CL.

The thread above is the one you'll need once you get your "new" remotes... ShawnS posted a scan from the Helms service manual. You can get that, and a replacement owners manual if you need it from http://www.helminc.com

I did a search for remote programming to find the tread. Your post came up first but the one you want was the sixth one down. Try out the seach function, when I first joined, to see if you get the same results. I didn't post much when I first joined the forum because I ran searches and spent hours reading old threads. It's amazing the stuff you'll learn from a search (you'll stumble across unrelated but useful stuff too).

I read that about 2 months before I bought my CLS 6spd... Everyone should read Chod's FAQ, doesn't matter if it was before or after you bought your CL

i tried the instructions for programing my extra remote that were on the FAQ i still couldnt get it to work...whats the FCC ID used for? how do i program that into my remote? i am so lost someone please explain it to me like im a retard cause apparently i am in this situation
