HELP: Maintainence Light On

Hey guys my maintainence light is on but my car runs fine? but the thing is my dad... put in 89 gas instead of 91, but he said it's not the first time... but this time i found out before hand. I've tried to burn the gas and all but he fulled it up to the max and now it's near the middle. Could it be the gas or what else could it be. The engine seems to be pretty warm but the temp gauge says it's fine. It seems to be hotter than usual but once that light came on i just floored it a bit to try to waste gas.. any suggestions of what it could be or what should i do? thanks and right now it has around 80 xxx km thanks guys

Oooh, ohh...I've been dying to say this..."Use the search function, dude." Luckily, if it's truly the "Maintenance Required" light, and not the check engine light then it most likely came on to remind you that scheduled maintenance is due. You can re-set it, but I'm gonna be a jerk and make you search for answer Hint: it's in the owner's manual and listed here.

^Damn, you beat me to it!!!

Gotcha. I'm still new to this whole World Wide Web thing so I'm still learning the proper forum etiquette. I'll try to be more sensitive from now on as I cruise the information super highway.

o1s I was going to ask the same thing. I don't think he's had an oil change yet.

Welcome to the forums. Like others said, the light means nothing. it's just set to come on every few thousand km's, so learn how to reset it cause you will be seeing it again
