Help! Engine Noise
Help! Engine Noise
30F cold.
My buddy with 03 CLS 5AT (ice box, CT headers) with 18K mi asked me about this weird engine noise. He just filled up the Mobil 93 (1/2 a tank) and when he stopped at the light he heard the metal clank-clank-clank noise
coming from the engine. It was not extremely loud but noticeable since he was smoking and his window was open a bit and radio turned off.
When he accelerated normally the noise had gone. So it goes again on the next light at idle when he stopped. Pulled over, got out, popped the hood - sounds like its coming from behind the engine. Not the belts, doesn't sound like it's coming from that area. He continues driving like another 30min and the noise has gone driving another 15min the noise showed up again only at idle and again dissapear when accelerate.
WTF could it be. Valves need adjustment?

Go to this thread it tells you all about the weird ticking noise. On my next oil change I'm taking my car to get it looked at. Hope it helps
