Help! DownPipe Question

I have a set of XSPower Headers and Downpipe. I recently got the flex pipe removed. I'm pretty sure I got the flange that bolts to the cat to line up pretty good to when the flex pipe was in the downpipe. How much play is there in the exhaust does it have to be perfect or could it be muscled in if needed? Any pics would be very helpful before I try to install it. Thanks

I'm not worried about the vertical aspect just that the bolts will line up. Its been done before to eliminate resonance and create a more rigid setup. I can always bend the pipe a little bit if needed however I can't rotate it.

when the engine moves the pipe is gona move with it creating unwanted stress on the welds

You think it will be 40,000psi worth? Because that's how strong the welds are. There is also flex in the whole system I'm not welding the pipe to the car. You should actually know what you're talking about before you post here. If you don't have an answer then don't reply.

the guy is correct on the flex pipes reason for being there. the motor moves independently from the frame and rest of the car, which you know. now with the flex pipe removed the engine will move the rest of the exhaust system. the system being on rubber hanger will allow it to move and shouldn't cause to much of an issue. my only concerns would be long term loosening of the connection bolts between the different pipes. also i would be concerned if you had to raise the exhaust system to get the bolts it. it would take the system weight off of the hangers and put in on the engine. like you said you can bend the pipe to adjust that. as for rotating it maybe it should of all been bolted up and tacked while on the car to make sure it aligns.

Unfortunately I am painting the car now and didn't have the opportunity to mock it up with the car. I got it welded at school with some other custom fab that would've cost me 3 times as much anywhere else with probably half the quality that I got. As for the bolts loosening, loctite. The flex pipe doesn't eliminate the exhaust shaking so much it would be able to be considered like a damper like you're speaking of the difference in that of a hard pipe being put in place of a flex pipe is minimal in that aspect. The flex pipe is merely there for fitment. The flex pipe is out now and is pretty rigid imo. Basically any pics of aftermarket headers installed connecting to the cat would be the most helpful.

if the stock headers have it u need it, if the $1000 comptech headers have them, u need it. this puts a lot of stress on the welds, pipes, bolts. u dont need to have 2 flex pipes, but u need one. i know from experience.
