help.. car rolling in park on uphill driveway..

I came home from work tonight and i put the car 2001 cl-s automatic into park and noticed it was a little harder to push it into park all the way, and then it started to roll back down the driveway and it sounded really bad.. is this a common problem? can it be fixed at the dealer? i just bought the car last week and have a 30 day warranty from carmax and i bought the extended warranty as well.. please fill me in if this is an issue or if it was a 1 time thing.. thanks

You don't use the e-brake when you park on a hill?

When you put your car in park, your transmission is locked which keeps the driving wheels from moving. Sounds like yours isn't locking. You might need a new tranny.

Doesn't sound good. Honestly, if you can still take it back to Carmax I would. I love my car, but that's a transmission problem I haven't seen before on the forum and it doesn't sound pretty. How many miles are on the car? If it is still under 100k miles (factory transmission warranty) I'd take it to an Acura dealership and stay away from Carmax.

No i cant take it back to carmax any longer, it is still covered fully by carmax warranty for the rest of 30 days and all work on it is free.. there are 76k miles on the car, so it would still be covered by acura, but if i take it to acura then i would have to get a rental car while they are working on it, would acura give me that? and what if im not able to reproduce the problem??

Your shifter cable might be out of adjustment.

Yes, the Acura dealer should give you a loaner car.
